Well, have you weighed all the vertices to a bone?

i think so it says problem reading 0 vertex in mesh body, usually when i make a mess of these it gives the # of vertices not weighted so i dont understand 0 vertex (unless i have bones with no vertices)
thanks for reply
Just reweigh all the vertices and try to export again.

   i knew you were going to say that
Well thats what i do when i get that message, i go through reweighing all the vertices and try again. If it doens't work then i change a few things then try again.

i rather hoped you'd tell me where the magic fix it button is
cheers :original:
press skin->edit envelopes->vertices->weight table->search for any vertice that hasn't a bone weight of 1->give it a bone weight of 1

ok that's it the hole weight thing is driving me nuts over 30 hours on this model and it just wont export i even tried exporting getting an error message and weighting the vertices one by one.
the other thing i dont get how do you know which verts go where, what i mean theres a vert at the bottom (front) of the dress that isnt left or right so what bone does it attach to,
is the abs bone his actual abs then where is the pelvis,
and when it came up with 0 verticle not weighted i looked in the weight table and it is weighted,
theres to many holes in my knowlage here and lifes to short and as im doing everything on my mod myself i cant put more time into this,
so again if anyone has profs tutorial 4 id be most greatfull (ive pmd prof no joy there)
alternatively if anyone would like to do some modeling(titter ye not) for me that would be fantastic (if a lack of software is a problem pm me)
or contribute (think satanic) models
You should check whether all vertices are weighted. The error gives ( most of the time ) a wrong vertex number, don't know why. So just go over each vertex and check if it's wheighed to 1,000Originally Posted by halie satanus

There shouldn't be any vertices in the middle of the skirt, look at the original models.Originally Posted by halie satanus
As for knowing which vertices should be weighted to the abs bone or the pelvis bone try and think of it like this: All vertices "above" or next to the abs bone should be weighted to the abs bone. No vertex below the abs bone should be weighted to it. When you rotate it it shouldn't affect anything below itself.
What you should do when you start is weight everything to one bone, the left foot for instance. Then start weighting as normal. When you have done all bones select the left foot bone to see which vertices haven't been weighted yet.
Use the front viewport (with wireframe)
i found a couple of people who say they have it but its to big 190mb for them to upload![]()
caius just told me the same thing i cant belive it thats shoking i've wasted so much time looking for non existant unweighted verts![]()
thanks btw
sorry didnt mean to name drop
had some success with this im not going to post a screen shot becuase it looks rubbish,
so my new problem is ive added a cloak to the spartan hoplite which looks great when they stand upright but when they lean forward it floats above them in the first position how do i fix this
thanks to all who have advised every little bit of info helps
