Can you please tell me how to disable smoke and dust in game? Also I want to reduce the gun smoke effect.

really don't know try to diminish the antialiasing for example from 4x to 2x

genarally it works a lot

or diminish the effects in general

It doesn't relate to effect detail. I think it's a custom feature of this mod.

I figured out how to remove the smoke from guns and the dust from soldiers marching, but I forgot exactly which files they were.

I'll be sure to get back to you when I figure it out.

I notice the same with empire engineers with repeater handguns. They create so much smoke that zooming in on it creates lag.
