Default How to install mods and/or scripts?

I've checked the tutorial forum and well, that stuff is beyond me. They generally assume you know what to do and how to do it.

Where do i put .lua and .pack files? How do I enable them?

Let's pretend I know nothing about modding. After spending two hours on the modding, general, and tutorial forums, I haven't learned the very basics yet.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

most mods come in a pack file, in the form of a movie mod, meaning that you just stick it into the data folder and it'll work, unless it conflicts with mods that change the same type of file (don't put in a color mod with a the retexture mod, or use 2 unit card mods at the same time)

    I downloaded a scripting.lua file. I put it in the data\campaign_maps\sho_japan directory.

    Is that right?

I also downloaded a .pack file and it doesn't do anything when I put it where I was told to put it.

usually you find in the mod thread the infos how to install the mod... or sometimes it is in the readme file inside the archive.

The normal way is to use "user.script.txt"... it is for mods with the "mod" attribute.
but sometimes modders use "movie" attributes that can lead to problems when you try to use several mods. But to "install" such mod it is easy, you just have to put them in your data folder.
