Bengali Communist Booted out of office - Election.

Nice news today. The world's favorite pet communists have been voted out:

The biggest victory was in West Bengal, India's fourth most-populous state, where Congress and the allied Trinamool Congress party won in a landslide after an aggressive campaign that hammered the Communist-led alliance for stagnation, corruption, agricultural malaise and industrial decline.

Opponents had been trying to unseat the Bengali Communists since 1977, and Trinamool's fiery leader Mamata Banerjee said Friday's results reflected a 34-year "freedom struggle" and a "victory for the people."

I never heard of them ... but I'm kind of mad that Babur left commies in the Great Khan Empire backyard

Good news, got an uncle who works for TMC.My family have never been too keen on the Communists in West Bengal so good riddance to them.Unlike in Kerala they've held back West Bengal.

Half my family live in West Bengal

Yeh. I'm sort of glad the communists no longer rule in West Bengal. All Indians I know are sort of afraid of them.

"Yeah, just leave the militant West Bengali Communists alone...."

On the other hand, it appears the non-communist leftist anyway UDF has maintained control of Kerala. I expect them to lose to the LDF next time.

Keralan communists I've heard are much nicer. Kerala to the rest of India is like comparing Sweden with, say, Albania or Ukraine.
