Default Are you willing to pay for faction DLC?

I've read rumours that CA will release minor factions as DLC. As you all know, we always have to pay for Total War DLC, so I was wondering how many people are actually prepared to pay money for minor factions?

Yes , if it will add new content and not only unlock faction.

no i will not. these minor factions are already in the game that i paid FULL PRICE for, they are simply locked. purchasing a license to unlock the variety that the vanilla version is sourly missing(inspite of promises);in my opinion, is absolutely absurd and almost extortionate.

You know, if they let us mod, we would give them to you for free. That and much much much more.

That's my view as well - the damn factions are already in the game, so it's not right to force us to pay to unlock them. Now, if they released some DLC that utilised the unused landmasses as well as extra factions, I'd be happy to pay a few quid for that.

Edit: @Humble: I nearly always wait for GoTY editions of games - apart maybe from TW - but if DLC becomes too common, that might change. Not with Rome 2 of course - no way am I going to wait a year or more for the Gold edition!

Only if it adds new content that I'm interested in, and is reasonably priced.

Also, implying that CA will never release a DLC for free is presumptuous on your part, don't you think?

You paid full price for the game as is. Not for anything else. It's irrelevant that you paid full price. If you want to make the other arguments, fine, but stop acting like you paying money makes a difference in the ethos of your complaint.

First off. If it's for Single player online **** no. Campaign is dull and boring. Secondly, if it effects MP for whatever the case may be, sure as long as it doesn't cost that much. I have money. And lastly, when this game was released. Wasn't there special editions that allowed certain factions to be playable outside of the original edition? Especially if that's the case, who cares if you have to pay for them to be playable via DLC, it's not really a big deal at all.

we will have to agree to disagree about payment being relevant to the discussion. were payment not relevant, everyone would be pirating and dlc costs wouldnt be a problem.

But according to game files DLC will offer this:

    1. Ikko Ikki playable in campaign and custom/mp battles
    2. Several new units - reworked Asigaru units, Nuns + some others for rest factions
    3. Another 3 mp maps
    4. New clothes, armor sets etc to your mp avatar

Take your pick if its enough for you or not, but remember nobody is forcing you to buy it.

If that is indeed all it were to offer, then it would depend on the price for me.
    £1.49: No
    £0.99: Maybe
    £0.49: Yes

In any case, I don't see myself losing out on anything. This whole DLC debate baffles me, tbh.

    I guess price will be from 5£ - 15£.

I would guess it would be £1.99, as the "Coalition Battle Pack" and the "Elite Units" packs for NTW/ETW cost that much.

And that would be too rich for my taste.

... are you kidding me? You think £2 is too much to pay? You pay that for greetings cards these days and I'm pretty sure more genuine effort and creativity will have gone in to this DLC than your average valentines for your missus.

You'll get more use out of it, too.

(Though, admittedly, conquering Japan with the Ikko-ikki won't get you blown on the couch.)

I don't know, even though i seriously hate the idea, i might have to consider it since Shogun 2 is so ing bland. Probably won't though.

I bet many saying they won't will be in fact buying it anyway. Quote me if you want saying you won't, but I know for a fact other will. DCL's will never stop, the only thing that matters is the contents of what the DCL includes. And nothing has been completely confirmed as to what will be made available through it. So keep it up, speculate some more why don't you.

Perhaps I'm one of the few who could be arssed about multiplayer and prefer singleplayer campaign, but I'd buy the DLC if it had A LOT of new units and game features and was reasonably priced.

I most certainly will not buy the DLC if it just unlocks minor clans that are the same as the clans we already have, or with small piddling differences such as the ikko ikki. The AUM mod already gives me a great selection of warrior monks.

Admitably, I like the warrior nuns, but aside from them and the ikko ikki, which I could care less about, I haven't heard of anything remarkable upcoming for the DLC's.

I don't give a hoot about extra mp maps -I mean really, how many variations of bridges or tree placements to we need?- or goofy helmets for my 'avatar'. I want somethng like the large amount of units in the DLC's for Empire.

I believe many of you should realize that no matter how many new DLCs, it won't add more variety to the units or more gunpowder units. It's 16th century Japan, and Japan is in Asia. Asian loves tradition, they don't like to change. That's why all the clans in Shogun 2 looks EXACTLY the same except for the colors. We bought the game, and we already have a full game in the purchase. New DLCs will add a couple more units to all the clans, but you know that they'll look EXACTLY the same anyways. If you purchase a clan DLC, you're just buying it for a couple new cut scenes which you can look up on youtube anyways.
