    Default Laurelorn Forest

Can you get to the region that is in the west side of the empire? It is called Laurelorn Forest, and is owned by rebels.

It is very irritating as I own all the land around it but it does not seem to have any settlement, so I have a big grey blob in the middle of my region.

It is intended to be like that.

No human enters Laurelorn Forest. And if enters, he never comes back. It's home of Wood Elves.

And yet according to lore there is pressure on the Empire and Count Gausser to "clean" it out..

The count would love to get rid of them, but its war more effort than its worth (in the lore anyway) besides, a forest full of wood elves that just want to be left alone will be the least of his worries once the storm of chaos arrives

Dont know much about the Warhammer world these days (tho I used to collect High Elf army when I was 12, but i'm 28 now so i guess a lot has changed). But is upper statement true according to the warhammer stories these days?

Sounds weird....the Empire should see that Wood Elves are no threat to their lands.
Wood Elves are basically High Elves immigrated to the old world right? I once read their unit book. That the elves fighting alongside the empire (to stop Chaos i think?) were returning home to Ulthuan but that half of the army decided to stay in those woods.

Well yes but that was a long time a go and a lot has changed. High elves are allies to the empire but even they would not hesitate slaughtering an empire army if it got in their way.
Wood elves are very different. They have become more a force of nature than anything else and you can never tell what they will do. You go in their wood and you might find help and aid, or they mgiht ignore you, or they might kill you.
They tolerate bretonian questin knights and have some wierd links with their fey enchantress. I doubt there is any such relationship with the empire and im sure empire lumberers get arrows in the throat.

Also they didnt stay behind when fighting chaos. It was in the war of the beard- after that the high elves withdrew most of its colonies and retired to Ulthuan. however, some stayed in the woods and becmae a seperate race that the high elves only re-encountered a long time later.

They see any other race than humans as a threat. In fact, they see every human as a threat.
The Warhammer lore is built on xenophobia and the Empire for sure is nothing different.

And there are all sorts of creatures other than Elves in the woods.

The problem with the Storm of Chaos is that it has no direct connection with the timeline/story/lore anymore. Which is a huge blunder by GW (games workshop). What I am saying is that if the lore says Gausser wants to empty the forrest we have no way to combine it with the timeline represented in this mod.

just do toggle_fow and you'll see two "empty" settlements on the bottom right of the map. You can't get to them without the move_character cheat however
Don't forget to rep me if you like something I did/ or not lol

How can the Storm of Chaos have no direct connection with the timeline?

Games Workshop have said that it is possible the Storm of Chaos will not be part of future "canon".

    Where?

The canon is lead up to in all of the books, it's the whole 2 minutes to midnight again.

For example, check out Warriors of Chaos Army Book. Everything is leading up to the Storm of Chaos - at which point this is where this mod takes over.

From what I understand the Storm of Chaos was to be decided by the campaign itself (which it did not) and there is the problem that future Army books may or may not continue from the SoC, since it has pretty much changed the entire Old world. Like when I said that we can not combine the fluff that says Nordland wants to empty the Laurelorn forrest since Nordland is pretty dead after the SoC.

One of the game designers has said (Jervis Johnson):

"the setting is designed as a backdrop for our games, not an evolving background, and they understood the concern and people's wish in many cases for the results to affect the settings, but they could not risk people's collections being affected by the results of a campaign"

But then again that is why I play this mod, the story can be carried further in a "what if" way.

Wait what? So they now have an army book that leads up to a campaign that has already ended?
