I've never captured a king. I've only captured a handful of generals too. Since there's no way to tell your troops whether or not to capture or try to kill, unless you can catch them while they're fleeing, it's kind of random.

I've seen Kings worth over 20,000 though its not always the same amount. It is interesting to know what causes the different values.

Perhaps their authority and/or command level? Or perhaps the wealth of the faction itself?

Probably the wealth or maybe rank of the faction? Since I've seen FL also worth 10,000...

I've only seen FL and heirs for 11-16k. Think it's the wealth of the nation.

mostly heirs 5k leaders 10k generals 1-3k in my campaigns

From what happens to me in games:
Kings usually go over 10k (I recall once ERE emperor was "weight" 23k)
Heir around 5k-7k
Generals around 1k
Pope was prisoner only twice, iirc, once 17k (in new blood HS) other time 20k-ish...

In vanilla i tried capturing the pope. Sold him back for around 19k. After that i took another unit and attacked the pope, captured him again, and got around the same amount again. After that i assassinated himBut almost 40k in 1 turn just by ransom
