    Default motherboard/Sli question

i've a gtx 560 ti and gtx 460 se, so i was wondering if i could use both in sli or if theres any way to take advantage of both cards?

but i dont know if my mobo supports sli....

    Asus P8H67-M

    CPU: sk 1155
    Chipset: H67
    Memory: 4 x DIMM (max 32gb)
    Graphics: HDMI/D-sub
    Expansion slots: 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x 16 slot (x16/x4 mode) ; 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x 1 slot ; 1 x PCI slot
    Storage: 4 x sata 3gb's / 2 x 6gb's

    can i have sli ?

currently i'm using gtx 560 ti , but if i can give some use to the gtx 460 se would be nice, anyway its better than be getting only dust

far as i know your board does not support SLI

560 and 460 cannot be SLI-ed together for better performance all you can do is slot the 460 in the x4 slot and use it for Physx in maybe 20 games of which only 2-3 are actually worth playing,

for nvidia you need 2 cards of the same type manufacturer etc dont matter but

    560Ti + 560 Ti = sli
    460 768mb + 460 1gb = no sli

AMD allows crossfire on different gpus but only the same family aka

    6970 + 6950 works
    6970 + 6990
    6950 + 6990 etc etc

There are 3 version of the P8H67M the LE LX and EVO the EVO supports Crossfire via AMD gpus but has no SLI support the other 2 boards offer no SLI or Crossfire

best bet is if you dont play Mafia II, Batman Arkham Asylum, Cryostasis is to sell the 460se just look up your cards retail price now slash 20-25% off it and put it on ebay etc. or craigslist

If they're both the same chipset you can. So in theory, some cards may be wackily compatible. Not in your case though. I'd just sell the 460 if I were you.

correct in rare cases cards like the 9800GTX + and GTS 250 worked but it was rare. same goes i believe for the 8800gs and 9600gso depending on the type,

also seen users flash GTX 285s to GTX 280s aka flash back to an older card and have it work in sli with another older GTX 280, but again these cases are extremely rare and do not apply to this situation

yea $125 sounds about right ill see what the cards are going for on the tech forums and get back to ya with a post edit soon

yea MSI cyclones and a few others are for sale on various tech forums average price seems to be

$110-125 shipped. some of the threads are a few months old but yea id say $115 shipped wouldnt be to bad, you can start at $125 and just use Or best offer method nows the time to sell since the Sapphire 5850 xtreme is out of stock everywhere, *beats the 460s and is only $140 new but yea 1gb 460 should net you $110 easy hope you can sell it and get some cash back

If I were buying a new card, I'd buy it. Though if the buyer's smart they could probably find one new for that price. However, I find that lots of buyers are not that smart.

yea it really comes down to where you sell it, a real tech forum youll probably have to drop to 85-90 before someone bites,

craigslist tho you can get a bit more really it comes down to location and how good a talker you are lol

well 115-120 wouldnt be bad. but honestly the card is very much brand new, even have all from original box, cables, etc etc etc i know that everyone always want a good deal (lower possible), but this card isnt like many on ebay with extensive use and such.

    brief history of the use:

    - bought it
    - installed
    - been on use for a week (but in reallity i only used for 4-5 days since i use mostly my laptop) so besides being used for week or so it was only in use for less time
    - bought gtx 560 ti
    - took off to the original box and such with everything from store, no dust, no scratch, 100% working and kicking (not selling with purpose of trying to get ride of damaged card like many seem to do).

so i'm selling a brand new card with barely 4-5 day's "real use" with everything like from store. but yeah 115$ would be nice , i've tons of hardware laying around enough to build a Nasa space shuttle

dosent matter if you used it only for 10mins it gets the Used tax because of it,

Let me put it this way i only need 10 mins to install a gpu install a driver overvolt it overclock it to an extreme and burn it out

    good example

Sapphire 5850 reference card a year ago, 775/1000 stock clocks with 1.087v, i pushed the voltages to 1.5v and upped the clock speeds to 1100 core 1300 memory, card ran fine for a few bench runs with fan at 100% it stayed within thermal thresholds, but the damage was still done after that the card couldn't even run stock clocks eventually RMA'ed the card and got a BNIB replacement, point is in 10mins a person can do alot of damage thus the used tax applies to everything,

Look at retail price for your card at a reputable etailer aka newegg, tigerdirect for USA, scan.co.uk or ebuyer for the uk. take off 20-30% and put it up for sale,

good example of this I have a sister board to the one in my signature, Gigabyte 790FX UD5P only seen 2hrs of bench testing, even so at $190 new i still couldnt get much more then $90 for it today, even tho i have the box all accessories and even the little stickers. hell even got the reciept in box still but it makes no difference

GTX 460 1gb regular cards aka superior to the SE version go for $110 right now some special aftermarket cooler version are $115-120 if there proven good overclockers,

    USA 460 SE is $139

    so $140 - 20% = 112
    $140 - 30% =$98

so the $95-110 shipped is about right

Id say $95 but they pay for shipping or $110 shipping included would have to sit on it awhile but it would eventually sell as long as there isnt a price drop.
