    Default Meso-America Total War [IDEA]

    i know this has been tossed around alot of times but really it could have potential, you wouldnt need many changes honestly basically heres all you need

    1. Americas Map
    2. More regions for historical Accuracy
    3. More factions, as Zapotec, Mixtecs, Teotitlans, Huaxtecs, etc
    4. since there wasnt much diffrence between them all you could have the same units and if you look further into it more unique units
    5. no europeans
    6. and tell me look at these pictures and you dont think it be pretty awesome



    P.S. if you also think the americas campaign is pretty boring since it doesnt have alot of factions in it and europeans and natives from the north ruin it, this should be made

    There was a Maya: Total War thread here a few pages back I was working as a researcher on, but my idea for it was that the Mixtecs and Zapotecs were as far west as it went, whereas here your idea seems to be that they are the furthest east.

    well here in this map shows historical positions where some of the civilizations were

    So? Just because it has natives doesn't mean it's a Mesoamerican game. Like the difference between Empire Total War and Medieval 2: TW.

    Even if I don't like too much Meso-American History, I believe this could be a good mod. Wich time-frame will you consider?
    And also, why not adding Europeans? I suggest that their arrive could be scripted for a certain year, so the player couldn't be able to play a campaign with them, what do you think about it? (obviously it's only my personal opinion).

    Yeah I agree with Zames, the European Colonizers could be like a Mongol Invasion, it would make for very challenging game-play trying to outwit the relentless invasions from the old world, maybe after removing the Europeans from the Americas your faction could get rewarded for it, like a massive boost in profits from looting. Or even technological advances, like the ability to make sea going ships, or metal armed/armored troops!

    i like the idea but im not making it im just laying out an idea i had, cause its easier than people think to make a meso-american mod on M2TWKingdoms, i mean everything is the same warriors, culture, etc... you just need to add more factions and regions, and european invasions instead of them already in there, also how bout the idea starting year of 1400 when the aztecs just got their city, so you can have the other cities around the mexican valley the huaxtecs, zapotecs, the mixtecs, tlaxcans, teotitlans, etc... so their is no super powers, allies

    That would be a great idea! The thing is with these kinds of mods is that most people would want to play it for the enjoyable gameplay, not the realism. The trick is to make the player interested, thats why things like evening out the difficulties with factions, placing strategic map features and making interactive events will keep the player coming back for more.

    Personally I think that having scripted events that don't do anything are pretty useless. Sure it's good to find out about historical events of the time. But how can you make it effect your gameplay?

    This is a rly good start to the mod i think but if i may add in my two cents (and yes i have two cents even though im a near broke college student ):

    Why not create an entirely unique native american mod covering the entire north American rockies?

    at the bottom end of the map would be the Aztecs, then head north and u get the Tarascans, the Chichimec, the Apache, the Northern Plains tribes and lastly the Northwest Pacific natives in what is now BC.....

    You could choose not to include the europeans although if u were id recommend the Spanish, the US and the Russians (hardly anyone knows, but the russians once controlled Alaska, they tried to expand south into BC but failed, they were beat by the Northwest Pacific natives )

    Just my way of spicing it up a bit

    MWAHAH! FINALLY!!!! the factions should be as Follows

    Mayan Factions:
    K'iche (should be the strongest of all Mayans, easily deceived though)
    Qekchi
    Kakchiquel
    Mam
    Yucatecs

    Central American factions:
    Pipil (has defeated the Spanish while being outmatched more than once)
    Lenca (has very good offence
    Miquitos (the weakest of tribes)
    Nicarao tribes
    (I plan to buy books about these groups but they are ing expensive!)


    Central Mexican Factions
    Mexicah (commonly known as Aztecs and the most powerful of all)
    P'urhépecha (Commonly Known as Tarascans)
    Mixtec
    Zapotec
    Mixe (not to be confused with Mixtec)
    Huastec (they are also Mayan but I put them here 'cause of the Location)

    Chichimec Factions
    Guachichiles
    Caxcanes
    Zacatecs
    Tecuexes
    Guamares

    Northern Mexico Factions
    Coahuiltecan
    Serian

    Shall we include some of the Southern US groups like the Apache, Navajo, etc? I am getting a new computer next month so I might be able to mod (someone has to teach me though)..I also got maps of where every single group was sationed too! =^_^=

    I can't mod either but I can learn and plan to make the perfect map. I am just waiting till they sell me that 2,000 dollar computer

    yea but i think i speak alot cause there are a few mods out there that include europe and africa and the americas regions are spread out and large and cannot represent the variety of meso-american city states and empire, thats my point

    a mod about the area of meso america and its civilizations, and no interferance with europeans



    there were actually quite a few mayan city states that were now soverign kingdoms like italy,

    for example you could have 3-5 faction about mayan city states,

    1. city state of Copan
    2. city state of Chichen Itzu
    3. city state of Tikal

    plus the mexico valley states

    1. Aztecs (tenochtitlan)
    2. teotihuacans
    3. mabye the Toltecs(since they were around in Tollan)

    Those Mayan cities had fallen by the time the Aztecs even came into existence, as had Teotihuacan and the "Toltecs" (their existence is disputed). And the Olmecs are even more ancient and long since disappeared. By the time the Aztecs came around, the Yucatan was ruled by Mayapan, which had created the League of Mayapan, a hegemonic empire ruled by the Cocom family and their allies.
