Problem with Diablo 2 on Win7/New laptop!!

Hey,

I recently bought a new laptop, ASUS G73 gaming laptop, and I bought a brand new Diablo 2/Expansion game. I installed them and noticed the colors were a little awry. I don't understand why, as when I ran it on my 5-year old basic desktop computer it ran with no color distortion in game. Now I'm not sure but is this a windows related problem? For instance, my desktop was Windows VISTA, and my new laptop is Windows 7.

My question is, does anyone know why it's doing this? My new laptop is probably 5x better than my old desktop, I'm not sure what the issue is.

so you bought a g73? overpriced....

well try to right click the d2 exe and click to run compatibility mode, I have win 7 and a AMD card never had that problem, btw which gpu do you have? the gtx 460m or the 5870m?

Yeah the G73, lol it's selling like hotcakes tho, online and instores, I had 3 bestbuys sold out in my city, and 3 of the 4 staples :\

Just a quick note, Diablo 2 is infamous for huge issues with W7. Personally I got it working with the compatibility mode.

Is the colour issue making the background turn a sort of pink hue and some roofs appear black? Run the video settings and set to direct draw instead of direct 3d. You lose some features like perspective but this fixes alot of graphical glitches with the game.

You can also try killing explorer.exe prior to starting d2 with a batch file.

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
DiabloII.exe
start explorer.exe
exit

You drop that in the d2 directory and run the game from that batch file
