I think so. Seems like the only logical step. Some people root for these exotic TW titles but truth is it wouldn't sell nearly as well as something that is known.

    There's Med 2, Shogun 2 -> there will be Rome 2.

Rome 2 is all but certain to be the next TW title. The original Rome was CA's best-selling title and the best received by critics. It's only natural that they would want to recapitalize on that success with Rome 2.

I'm going with definitely. Of course CA will make Rome 2. No doubt in my mind.

I'd be good if the next title was Rome 2, and that was followed by Medieval 3.

The thing is, it would succeed in keeping with the expectations?

With many, yes. With all, no way. Not possible.

By the way, does this thread really belong in this forum? What does it have to do with S2?

The original Rome was CA's best-selling title
If I'm not mistaken Empire was their bestseller.

Rome 2 does seem likely, though it wouldn't surprise me if they did a different game in between Shogun 2 and Rome 2.

Probably not, Rome is probably the most romanticised TW game so far. To be honest, it truely was a good game, and it has the best multiplayer, but it is also frequent that people who loved the game forget the flaws, and there were hundreds.

With the new graphics, new TW consumers who will expect the world (and many who will then declare the game is everything anyone could want even with numerous flaws) , and the hype people will expect a genuinly awsome game, with no bugs and huge amounts of variaty and balance along with lots of historical accuracy.

The end result though, will be a game with huge amounts of bugs lacking histoical accuracy and the completness of every faction that cant possibly live up to the hype and while many would declare it the best game ever it really wouldnt be, the combination of fanboyism and crushing disapointment probably wouldnt be good for the site either.

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy it, but I am not a fan of the Rome 2 concept, mainly because I'm not that big of a fan of the time period/location in-general. Though, if they did the identical time period and expanded the map all the way into China, I'd love it, even if the game wasn't that great.

Rome 2 would be a flop. Too much hype and it would ruin the dream...

That would be great... they could in theory combine two games in one. It would be nearly impossible for any player to conquer such a vast map. CA should add some distance from capital penalties into the game to make it harder for larger empires to stay together. And with unlimited factions we can see little tiny kingdoms emerge. But with the inability to create new regions we are stuck with a limited possibility of factions that can emerge.

I want them to make the next game a original concept, not a remake of any previous TW game.

Here it is your next best seller tittle:

    GLOBAL TOTAL WAR!!!

A map that encircles the glob and goes from the ancient times up to the late 1800's. It will take 5 years of develop, they will sell you the basic game, which cover from let's say 3000 BC up to 300 AC. Then they will sell the next ones with DLC expansions covering the dark ages, then the low and high medieval period, then the Renaissance, and then "empire era". AND THEN I woke up while felling off bed..

They won't do that. No-one would buy their games anymore. Unless of course they finish the process they've begun and it's completely unmoddable.

Sure. Rome 2 would be nice. But not after we knock out some new titles first.

    1. Victoria
    2. Khan Total War (Perfect for a Napoleon-style story-driven game.)
    3. Canaan Total War (One can dream right?)

And many more I did not list. I mean seriously, two remakes in a row would suck. And it may even hurt the company's credibility in general.

Khan? And how many regions can you possibly think up? The game would consist of armies on horse back moving through steppes conquering villages of huts before finally united all the huts into one great hut kingdom... sounds like fun.

Victoria sounds good... a world map allowing you to conquer Africa but I fear CA would just make huge borders in Africa, huge unrealistic borders because the alternative would be hundreds of tiny regions because Africa is huge... otherwise they leave most of the interior unconquerable and just put regions along the coasts and inward a bit.

Canaan - too much fantasy not historical enough and would never be touched by CA. Earliest CA would go would be the rise of Persia around 600 BC at least.

China total is likely but not right after Shogun I hope. However, I have a sick feeling it might be next simply because it would continue on the work started with Shogun - Asian fleets.

Another possibility is the interlude period between the fall of rome and the crowning of Charlemagne. Tons and tons of barbarian factions to choose from along with Empires. however it just feels like an expansion for some reason.
