Favourite unit

Pretty simple, what is your favourite unit, and why?

The Nizam i-Cedid, cause they got the fezzes

Hard choice. I have a couple of favourites.

Ultimate favourites

-18th Regiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "The Brave" - very versatile, break hard, very good infantry

-King's German Legion Light Foot - brilliant light/line infantry


Other really liked units

-Brunswick Line Infantry

-Silesian Schuetzen

-Prussian 8th Life Regiment

-Dutch Guard Lancers

-1st Regiment Emperor's Own

Well, I don't rly have the favourite unit, because I have more than just 1.

1. 10th Hussars. GB Cavalry unit, with 125 range, with accuracy of something like 25 and seriously long reload, so effects of their shootings are maximum of 2 enemy men dead. I am actually happy if I see 2 men die from their volley. In melee they are decent, but they are overpriced cause their ranged abilites are useless.

2. Life Hussars. Prussian Elite Hussar unit, I like them because they are dressed in black, and they have a death head on their hats. Plus, they are devastating in battle.

3. Grenzers. Austrian light infantry unit, I like them because they are only Croatian unit in the game. I liked them far more back in ETW cause they raped with their double muskets. They are still decent in this game, but nothing special.

Cannons. Battle winners they are if used the right way. But for single units, due to my personal style, I say Old Guards....

light infantry, longest ranged unit (apart from skirmishers) in the game, you can line them all up and the enemy cant get in range before you tear them to shreads, unless they flank you, which you can quickly move to the side and shoot again

hussars, they may be cheap but they are awsome, i like them for there speed, they can lure the enemy skirmishers or light infantry into an ambush, take out enemy artillery and run away in no time, charge at his flanks and run away before getting his heavy cav, although they can't keep in a melee fight for too long, a charge retreat charge would crush the infantry and run away from heavy cav, it always works for me and i always includ hussars insted of heavy horsemen or maybe 1/2 hussar 1/2 dragoons, cuirassiers...

Land unit - The Old Guard
Naval Unit - Ironclad

I love Fencibles, they hold my empire together while my army is busy in France. I even use them quite a lot in battles and they have often held the line while other "tougher" unit routed.

The Black Watch.

With their awesome charge and ability to hide in tall grass, they are perfect for ambushes and bayonet charges from the flank.

My favorites has to be Pavlovsk Grenadiers. They continued using their Mitre caps when everyone else stopped using them. I have to admit that they look powerful and frightening in a bayonet charge!

Gotta say, Old Guard for me.

I love Napoleon's Polish Guard Lancers and his Vistula Lancers

Their dare-devil exploits on the battlefields are legendary, in particular the Battle of Somosierra and Albuhera. The Spaniards even nicknamed the Vistula Lancers as "Picadors of Hell" or "Los Diablos Polacos" out of fear and respect!

Cuirassiers.

Definitely the "The Brave" or The Black Watch

Grenadiers a cheval, in my opinion best cavalry (and they look awesome) and the Brunswick Line Infantry. When in Spain, posibly best unit to have. I had them cornered by themselves and they routed the Young Guard and destroyed 1 1/2 regiments of foot.

Opelchnie. Their beards are awesome.

This is very hard to say because there are many wonderfull units.But as big fan of Napoleon i must say.
1.The Old Guard-they are a phenomen in that era.Napoleon and his Garde Imperiale.
2.The Black Watch-brave unit from the Highlands.Very good in meele and i like to see them in their skirts standing in the high grass hidden in the smoke of their musket fire.Awesome.
3.Dutch Guard Lancers-very quick able to deal with any enemy.
4.Death´s Head Leib Hussars-great looking,very quick.Good against artillery.
Actually there are more great units but i dont want to make a list of 30 units here.These are special for me.
