Default charge bonus and throwing weapons in 1.2?

There is a charge bonus value for archers and javelinmans(for arrows and javelins).
And the game use it as the charge bonus for units with a secondary weapons instead of the weapons bonus.
I think about modifying that value but i wonder (as there is no charge with arrows or javelins) if that bonus is used by the game for arrows?

In 1.2 the charge bonus had a *very* small effect. While researching this I found that defense had the largest impact on the charge attack of a unit. Kraxis then studied it further to determine that *armour* was the most important factor in the charge in 1.2. It was fairly bizarre that a unit's armour made a huge difference in its charge attack, while it's charge bonus value made almost none.

    1.2 is not worth modding.

    Thanks.
I know there was a problem with the charge bonus but i didn't know it works like that.

I'm still using 1.2 for RTW because my game is very modded and i haven't so much time lately to do everything again and i can't get used to the original skins, and i remember reading somewhere that the skins did not work with BI version, is that right?

They do, but you will have to edit the descr_model_battle yourself as it has a slightly different format in the latst patches such as 1.3 and 1.5.

Yes, you will just have to manually install them, changing the descr_model_battle.txt entries yourself.

I just took a quick look at the descr_model_battle and at first sight it looks the same to me.
What do you mean a slightly different format?

If i put in BI from my 1.2 game the
    descr_model_battle
    export_descr_unit
    export_descr_unit _enums
    export_descr_buildings
    export_unit
and edit descr_strat and descr_mercenaries it won't work?

No, CA changed most of those files slightly from 1.2, and if you put them into Bi it won't wokr because Bi doesn't have the RTW factions.

There are quite a few new skeletons that improve the game. There are now four horse speeds instead of 2 and there are new speeds for the men as well: "semi_fast" and "slow" that largely replaced the original overly quick movement speeds. Plus there is a chariot javelinman skeleton. The new speeds allow better separation of cavalry & chariots into light, medium, heavy, and cataphract speeds. CA didn't change the mounts in many places they should have in the EDU file, but they are easy to update to provide proper differentiation of speeds.
