    Default Rome on fast forward?

I just upgraded my comp. Now, for some reason, the longer I leave Rome running, the faster it goes until battles end up at about twice normal speed and movement on the strategy map is the same. Its not constant though, it'll switch between normal speed and fast forward, but the amount of time on normal speed reduces the longer Rome is running. Any techno gurus out there know why? (and, of course, how to fix it)

    Thanks in advance....

What kind of CPU do you have.
Most of these kind of speed-up issues steams from the fact that gamr uses the cpu-speed to calculate the time in games (sort of anyway but this isn't the place for such in-depth tech discussions ) so if for some reason the cpu-speed mis-match or change ever so slightly games got buggy.
Those sort of problems are most common on dual-cpre systems, and the easiest solution is to run the game on only one core.

When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved.

I think there is a problem with RTW on Dual-Core AMD CPUs. To fix this, just press Ctrl-Alt-Delete, go to Processes, right click RomeTW.exe and click Set Affinity, now just uncheck one of the CPUs so you only have one checked, and thats it.

though some games if you play for a while there are reported memory leaks...

e.g. Civilization 4. before they finally patched it. but it still gets real unplayable when you got 8 AIs, XL map, and 512 MB ram
