What mercenary unit do you wish you could build at your castles? for me its Macemen. Good morale, armor, and attack and they've got the god-tier maces.

Dismounted German Knights... improved version of Macemen. Been liking them since a battle where they killed entire FL bodyguard and the general 40 men, with only 8 losses.

for me it's the swabian mercenaries. they're cool with their bastard swords unavailable to the HRE until late game

I just love catalans (maybe Aragon gets them as non-mercs, IDK?). Their javelins are vicious, and they can fight too.

Macemen are the shiz man, they're wonderful for sending in to sieged castles to kill of a bunch of enemy soldiers without losing the main troops. (I usually send in mercenaries first, that way they die and I don't have to pay them --read it in the Art of War!
