Default Weird newspaper edits Hillary out of Situation room photo

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thecut...te-house-photo

A newspaper thought that Clinton's (nearly a granny now) presence in the hallmark photo in the situation room was "sexually suggestive" and edited the picture to remove her and another woman.

    A newspaper in Brooklyn.

"Hillary Clinton's expression, right hand clasped over her mouth in astonishment, is largely responsible for making the above photo iconic--and, to at least one newspaper, sexually suggestive.

    ...

But nevertheless, the image still proved a bit too racy for at least one of the many newspapers that printed it.
That would be the Ultra-Orthodox Hasidic broadsheet Der Tzitung, published in Brooklyn."

Boys, be prepared to get sexually aroused when you look at this:

I believe it crosses from "religious nutness" down to antifeminism to remove the women from this picture that will get propably in history books (so to speak) with the excuse it was "sexual" pic. The above photo for me, and I believe to a lot of others is iconic and powerful. Editing it to remove a 60year old woman with such a reason seems inexcusable to me.

While I don't think that isolated insident shows a trend or something, I think it makes pretty obvious that some people still take it hard that women are in politics and war rooms instead of cooking.

    Also:

"Beyond that, Der Tzitung's editors apparently missed or blatantly ignored the guidelines stipulated on the official White House Flickr page, where the photo was released for use by news organizations: "The photograph may not be manipulated in any way.""

The WH seems to have the same opinion as me, that this picture is iconic and shouldn't be manipulated.

EDIT: I would like to listen to opinions of people on if over-religeous organizations stiffle human rights and equality as the example given above, regardless of religion. I think we can all agree that over-religious muslim elements aren't exactly promoting women equality, but this one was news to me and I wonder if there are other such elements in different religions.

I don't support Palin for the Americans but I have to admit, she would pretty-up the picture.

A general question. Does everything any group with extreme views says, does, doesn't do, instantly become discussion worthy? Fringe elements are fringe elements.
"Every idea is an incitement. It offers itself for belief and if believed it is acted on unless some other belief outweighs it or some failure of energy stifles the movement at its birth. The only difference between the expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result. Eloquence may set fire to reason." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

What ing reason did they have to remove two women from a photograph? Two women in the Presidents Situation room? That makes no ing sense? Do Jews not believe women should be in the government?

It's Yiddish. That's the language that, nowadays, virtually only the most ultra-orthodox still use. They'd find a picture of Ahmedinijad's wife in a Burqa 'sexualy arousing'.

Both male and female walruses have tusks and have been observed using these overgrown teeth to help pull themselves out of the water.

The mustached and long-tusked walrus is most often found near the Arctic Circle, lying on the ice with hundreds of companions. These marine mammals are extremely sociable, prone to loudly bellowing and snorting at one another, but are aggressive during mating season. With wrinkled brown and pink hides, walruses are distinguished by their long white tusks, grizzly whiskers, flat flipper, and bodies full of blubber.
Walruses use their iconic long tusks for a variety of reasons, each of which makes their lives in the Arctic a bit easier. They use them to haul their enormous bodies out of frigid waters, thus their "tooth-walking" label, and to break breathing holes into ice from below. Their tusks, which are found on both males and females, can extend to about three feet (one meter), and are, in fact, large canine teeth, which grow throughout their lives. Male walruses, or bulls, also employ their tusks aggressively to maintain territory and, during mating season, to protect their harems of females, or cows.
The walrus' other characteristic features are equally useful. As their favorite meals, particularly shellfish, are found near the dark ocean floor, walruses use their extremely sensitive whiskers, called mustacial vibrissae, as detection devices. Their blubbery bodies allow them to live comfortably in the Arctic region—walruses are capable of slowing their heartbeats in order to withstand the polar temperatures of the surrounding waters.
The two subspecies of walrus are divided geographically. Atlantic walruses inhabit coastal areas from northeastern Canada to Greenland, while Pacific walruses inhabit the northern seas off Russia and Alaska, migrating seasonally from their southern range in the Bering Sea—where they are found on the pack ice in winter—to the Chukchi Sea. Female Pacific walruses give birth to calves during the spring migration north.
Only Native Americans are currently allowed to hunt walruses, as the species' survival was threatened by past overhunting. Their tusks, oil, skin, and meat were so sought after in the 18th and 19th centuries that the walrus was hunted to extinction in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and around Sable Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia.

Though their core reasoning is indistinguishable from moderate religion groups; that is we should do what the creator of the universe tells us to do. If you accept that for groups with moderate religous views, how can you critisize the fringe groups?

So you cannot brush this off with the fringe label, you have to attack the "value" of faith directly. I.e. you have to say that decisions made based on what people/books claim to be what god wants are universally ill founded no matter how mainstream or fringe they might be.

The scriptures have no views on photography, seeing that the Hebrews and Judeans were utterly unaware of the science.

I'm not criticizing anything. Just sayin'. Maybe my dismissiveness is jaded cynicism. Mabye I'm just ignorant. I dunno.
