Default Unrest in defeated roman cities ?

I have a problem - whenever I defeat a roman city the unrest it so big...the order is at 0%. I have no idea what to do. I have a full army in the city, it probably wont be due to religion, since the rtomans dont have any chrisitan temples built...and the order wont rise and the city revolts. This happens almost in every city. So what to do ?

If they don't have any religious buildings shouldn't they be at least partly Christian? Don't forget to exterminate.

unrest is unaffected by the number of people in the city.

    So, what is your religion?
If you cannot convert quickly the city with your generals and neighbor countries, wait a little before destroying the temple of the city if it is not your religion.

But the exterminating slashes squalor and increases population growth which gives a population boom bonus.

still you have to exterminate the poeple to help keep the settlement managable. Also bring in family members with the same religion as th people there untill you reach the 50-50 % religion you want then build the temples/churches you want to build. btw welcome to the forums.

Sack the city, then immigrate your peasant units into the city.

I think the number of population do affects the unrest in the city. Religion is also one of the causes of unrests in the city. However, you can prevent this by "extermination". So slash and burn is indeed a recommended action if you need to keep your cities in order after the invasion. That is if you cant immediately build a temple to keep ur city in order.

put a vet-spy in the cities. If hes really a master of spying your unrest will go down faster then a.... (can come up with something funny)
Hmm i always thought that unrest comes from spies/assasins/generals-traits, never comes to me othervise?:S
You have a certain mentality, a "you vs them" and i know it is hard to see, but it is only your imagination which makes up enemies everywhere. I haven't professed anything but being neutral so why Do you feel the need to defend yourself from me?. Truly What are you defending? when there is nobody attacking?

Right, left is religious unrest that cannot be quelled with exterminating.

You get the unrest penalty because of war. You know, people are not happy about their property being taken by soldiers, woman raped, children made orphans...

What about unrest the one with the two swords and fire? I cant get rid of that either and I've got a peaceful empire

ok, so the one with 2 swords is coming at 30% when you take a city, and decrease by 5% each turn.
Each spy (except yours of course) bring unrest too into the city they are, and only by finding them with spies or assassins, or generals (some have traits lfor this) you will be able to reduce this unrest.
BTW, some cities have some unrest penalty (that was true in RTW, Jerusalem i.e., do not know for BI), and for this one, you cannot do anything.

NB : some generals brings unrest in their city, so be careful
