How far will this rig get me?
Here, I'm planning on buying all these parts and building my own rig (My first build, since I just finished secondry college, I felt like it, and needed a decent gaming rig):
-Core i7 2600k 3.4ghz LGA1155
-Sapphire ATI Radeon HD6950 2GB
-Memory: 8gb (4gbx2)
-HDD 2TB SATA3 6gb/s
-Asus P8P67 Motherboard (LGA1155, DDR3, USB 3.0)
-Hyper 212+ Heatsink
-PSU Corsair 850W 80%+
Not planning on overclocking, just want to know how far will this rig get me, for Shogun 2, for Battlefield 3, etc... I know it will be really high performance since I've done plenty of my own research on this matter, but I've never had a rig like this before, or anything close, so I wanna know what will it be like in Shogun 2, will I be able to have the absolute beautiful max settings, will I experience any lag (say massive melee close up). I wanna know from people that have similar rigs.
And not just Shogun 2, other recent games, people with similar rigs, playing with flawless settings.
I know I will probably get close to max, but I just wanna hear people opinions before I make any purchases for sure.

Well I can run Shogun 2 on max settings (regular unit size though) without a hitch and that build is significantly better than mine so you should be golden.

Re: How far will this rig get me?
I have that same motherboard in my eyefinity rig and the same CPU in my gaming PC, as far as the GPU it equates to 1 GTX570 of which I have 2 in SLI on my gaming rig, I tested Shogun 2 with only 1 card enabled recently and you can expect to max the game out with your rig while getting 30-60FPS depending if you are zoomed in on a battle or zoomed out. The i7-2600k is a beast of a CPU and you won't have to worry about it becoming a bottleneck for a long, long time. 8GB of RAM is perfect as I've never actually seen a system with a single OS use anywhere near all of it during gaming or multitasking. So yes, great rig you will be pleased. You will no doubt want to upgrade your GPU down the road but everything else looks solid for a few years use.

rig is great indeed but if you dont want overclock i dont see why you're paying extra for K series and P67 mobo, i mean if you want to overclock thats the right decision if not you can save a very good ammount of money with normal sady bridge 2400-2500 (non K) and normal H67 mobo and play on high-ultra without issues
stw2 with my specs (check signature) with zoom on battle it can easily get stable on 57 fps wich good enough, unzoomed even more

Well I would like to keep the option to overclock open, I probably will be tempted to eventually
