When will the Mongols reach Baghdad?

Hello everyone! My first campaign playing Broken Crescent in three years! Everything is going fine, im really enjoying the campaign.. and then... !! The Mongols invade!! Now I want to know how strong are they? Will they just kill off the Kwarezmians and become a normal faction or will their hordes (so I mean multiple full stack armies) go for Jerusalem or Baghdad? will they reach those cities in this mod?

There is no saying what they will do, unless they are transformed in 2.3. It's different everytime, totally dependent on what the situations are and what the player is doing. There may be some underlying script, but in 2.02 they were unpredictable.

Playing as the Abbasids in a very long campaign, they did not muck around with the Kwarezmians long at all, before coming straight to me. I outmanuevered them and mostly through sheer luck got them to move on to other, easier targets after only a couple cities were razed, but never lost Baghdad. They ended up settling in Anatolia after like 40 years of terror. In other campaigns they hardly seemed to affect anything, apparently never leaving Samarkand. In a KoJ campaign I succeeded in allying with them after they annihilated the Kwarezmians and had them bothering the Great Seljuks on their eastern borders.. but they remained bankrupt for so long they never made much headway (though they owned huge amounts of land).

What the AI does is a shot in the dark usually, sometime they can destroy everything and other times, bridges and moving seems to become a challenge. Just see how it plays out, beat them back in seiges/choke points and mass archers/spearmen to negate their cavalry advantage ( have 1-2 heavy cav units to wipe out their foot archers)

On a side note seems like KOJ and ERE did their typical steam rolling again lol

the newer mongols have been nerfed, before they had very high quality units now they are average apart from the high archer skill

Aww.. I was actually hoping that the Mongols would destroy 80% of my empire and I kinda had to migrate to foreign lands to survive

In 2.02 they sacked Baghdad when I was the Abbasids, which was awesome. I honestly want the Mongols to be powerful enough to wipe the floor with everyone. Maybe set a script so every city the Mongols take, they get another stack or two. I don't know. Just want, if I'm playing Khwarezm, to have to flee across the Caspian to escape.
