    Default 1.5 Patch trouble

A few days ago I bought Medieval 2: Total War - Gold on Amazon, and everything was working perfectly fine until today when I tried to patch it to 1.5, but the patch was showing errors for some reason. Whenever I would try and start any of the kingdoms expansions it would show this message:

    No disc inserted.
Please insert the original "Kingdoms" CD/DVD.
Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=nodisc for further, more detailed information.

    [Retry] [Cancel]

So I did a little research and it turns out that there are multiple 1.5 patches depending on which version you have, so I downloaded the correct one and it installed perfectly fine.

The problem is I still get that same message even though the patch seems like it downloaded correctly this time. Is it possible for me to fix this without having to reinstall the game?

Run as Administrator and in XP Compatibility for starters

It doesn't seem to help at all... It was working perfectly fine before the patch so I don't see why it would make any difference

Then, it's the patch or a mod if you tried the four Kingdoms campaigns. A clean install is recommended including a clean download from preferably another site.

I'm having the exact same problem. I got my gold version from amazon (which is a direct download, so you play without using a disk).

Then I installed the 1.5 patch and the Kingdoms campaigns shows that error that OP has.

Both the game and the patch are UK versions, although I'm in the US.

Are you sure that the game offered by Amazon is the UK version? They would have to have a content partner and I don't remember seeing any way to identify the localization pack with the disc install.

Did you install that game directly from the Amazon servers? Are you sure there wasn't a third-party webpage that came up when downloading?

    Good luck!

Yes, I got it from Amazon's direct download. (http://www.amazon.com/Medieval-II-To.../dp/B000FUONLM)

According to the .exe file, the language is "English (United Kingdom)", so I would assume that it's the UK edition.

Interesting. I just checked the Sega site and found a new entry on their support page regarding Amazon downloads. It's nothing more than a URL but it does seem to be an issue you may want to check out.

    Here's the link - http://help.sega.com/index.php?_m=kn...866&nav=0,6,16

And here's the title of the support page - Medieval II Gold :: English Digital Download Version (Amazon).

It maybe that they have an issue that is already known and here's the fix. I hope so for your sake. I'll let you delve into that particular site and I hope you'll report back. Good luck!

Sorry to necro an old post, but I'm having the same issue and the SEGA support site is currently down. Does anyone recall the fix to this problem?

What version of Medieval2 do you have as in original dvd, Gold, download? If download, from where?

It's the Amazon English digital download. After some more looking I finally found a mirror of the Sega site for the Amazon 1.5 patch.

Here it is for anyone else looking for a fix:

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    Yes. Version 1.04 = Ver. 1.4. Likewise 1.05 = 1.5.

If it's a boxed copy then the rating on the front will tell you. If you see ERSB then it's American - PEGI for UK.

Now answer a question - why do you need to know what localization version you have? Are you having problems finding a patch? With the way this game has been bastardized over the years it wouldn't surprise me. Please let us know. Good luck!
