    Default RTW changes

I have a problem, when I dl RTW I get version 1.5. Next I dl BI and get version 1.6. But when I put RTW back in, now the version shows version 1.3. Is this natural or what is wrong? Do I have a problem with my pc or is it the RTW and the BI discs? I want to dl RS2 again and try out the new sub mod DOTR. Can anyone give me a correct answer to my problem? Any comments will do. Thanks inadvance.

What do you mean about downloading RTW, is it from Steam, or the patch?
Beware, for Rome, if you don't have the gold version, you first need to download and install patch 1.3 then 1.5.

Hi Paedric, I have Rome Total War Anthology, on cd rom. When I install RTW, I get version 1.5 to show. Then I install BI and I get 1.6 version. And finally I install ALEX and get version 1.9. The problem is, when I put the RTW cd disc back in to see if I still have version 1.5, It shows now 1.3. Should everything above stay as is or what. If I install RS2.0 and the the patch 2.1a, will I beable to install FIVE GOOD EMPERORS OR DEMISE OF THE REPUBLIC if my RTW version stays at 1.3? I installed all this before and didn't have any problems but now. Ive tried several dics and still get the same results. RTW shows version 1.3 instead of 1.5. .

What happens to the version of RTW after you've installed RTW BI. Does it change from 1.5 to 1.3?

The version number is shown on the top right hand side of the options menu - always check this rather than anything else.

The only time I've seen this happen is when an original RTW BI (1.4) is installed over a RTW 1.5 as it 'downgrades' the exe. The end result is RTW 1.3 and RTW BI 1.4.

Which discs have you been using? The Anthology ones or others? If so, where did you get these from. The official patches only work with official versions of the game and not copies.

You will need either RTW 1.5 RTW B I1.6 or RTW Alex 1.9 in order to play this mod. Most mods require these versions (unless they are a very old mod).

Hello Brusilov, I have the complete set of Rome Total War Anthology. When I put the RTW disc in, it will shows 1.5 at the the first install. Then I install BI, and get 1.6 and finally install ALEX. I get 1.9. But when I put RTW back in, now it will show 1,3 instead of 1.5. The other two dics donot change, they stay 1.6 and 1.9 respectfully. I have WINDOWS XP. Ive tried several versions of RTWA and get the same results. Maybe I think that there might be something wrong with my windows xp. What do you possibly think? I respect any answer you might have. You have helped me before, and once again thankyou. P.S. I bought RTWA from Amazon.com. I have several versions I bought from them. Before I had no problems.

I can only guess that something is screwed up on your PC - badly. The only time I've seen a RTW go from 1.5 to 1.3 is when an original RTW BI (1.4) is installed which downgrades RTW.....

You don't patch any of the games? Simply install from the discs?

What happens if you don't install RTW BI or RTW Alex - does the RTW revert back from 1.5 to 1.3? If it does it means that the problem is not caused by those installs but something else on your PC.

After you've installed RTW launch it and confirm that the game is 1.5 by looking at the top right hand side of the options menu.

Brusilov, if I don't install BI and ALEX. after, RTW, the option on RTW is 1.5. I install RS2 after RTW and the icon shows a lock symbol on the RS2 icon. I try playing RS2.1a and it willnot save any portion of my campaign. So I was thinking that something is wrong with my pc and I'am going to reinstall Windows XP and see if I can reinstall RTW, BI, and ALEX.and see first if I get 1.5, 1.6, and 1.9. Then I will reinstall RS2.1a and start playing a new campaign.

If you can't save files (campaigns) it sounds like the account you are using does not have permission to do so or the folder itself is read-only.

What is the 'lock symbol' you are referring to? Can you post a screen print?

I've not used Windows XP for a few years but I did use it for a long time.
