    Default Launch Crash

    Hello TWC.

After fixing my 3D Audio Problem which plagued me for a long time (the fix of which I will post into the Known Issues thread), I managed to launch the game with this face:

I saw the Roma Surrectum start screen, the first one you see when you launch it. Then all of a sudden, crash. No warning or nothing. My face changed to

I don't think I can wait like I did with the 3D Audio problem, so help me please! Make my face change to again!

EDIT: I use Windows 7. I have 4gb Ram, I have a Quad Core 2.33GHz and I use a Nvidia GeForce GT130 (Damn right GeForce One Series! It must be noted however, I doubt my rather old Graphics card is the problem, as it can run Crysis on High, which amazed me.)

    Hello Mr Bulletsponge

Can you please give us details on your OS, your install path, are you running as admin, are you using steam, and do you have show_err in the box on the bottom of the launcher?

Hello Hellhound, and thanks for the quick, if slightly uncanny reply.

    I'm not running steam.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, running as admin.
My install path may not be the right one because I had to jerry rig it to get it to start. It is C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RSII_Public.

And I have "-show_err -nm -movie_cam" in the bottom corner.

Ok, can you confirm RTW itself worked fine before installing RS2?

Also, many problems stem from the fact RS2 has been installed in program files on Win7, it may be worth trying the following steps
First, remove RTW and RS2 (literally, uninstall and delete everything) then:
    1) Create a new folder called RS2 in the C drive (C:\RS2)
    2) Install a fresh copy of RTW to this folder, and play it quickly to make sure it's working ok.
    3) Install RS2 (run the installer again) and install to C:\RS2 (click yes to any overwrites)
    4) Play RS2 (Hopefully! )

Thanks for the help! If it works, I'll sing your praises all around the house (to the dismay of my mother).
