    I just tried it out and my game doesn't have a problem with assigning "short_pike" to spearmen. But when I also put in "spear_bonus_2" I get a CTD. The weird thing though is that if I change it to "spear_bonus_4" I don't get a CTD.

    Edit: I just did a quick google search and found this. It's actually for RTW, but I think it's relevant.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 

    - All spears have the Spear/Light Spear[BI] and Spear_Bonus_4 or Spear_Bonus_8 variables set. I reserved the Spear_Bonus_8 for units using long pikes and cavalry using lances. All the others use the Spear_Bonus_4 (including phalanxes which don't have long pikes).

    - Some missile and skirmish units have the Short Pike set, because they use short spears as secondary weapons. I tried to give them the Spear_Bonus_2, but the game crashed reporting that it was an unrecognized attribute.

    I also just looked through the Vanilla EDU and there isn't a single unit with spear_bonus_2. I'm guessing it's not an actual attribute and they just put it in at the top by mistake.

    in my own testing, short_pike doesn't crash the game, though it seem to screw up units without phalanx formation. while it's the spear_bonus_x that's crashing... at least for me.. though it's odd since I seen quite a few other mods that have that working I'm not sure why it's crashing for my SS submod.

    Also, there's another way to add bonus damage using the mount feature... that feature also adds defense and is generally more reliable.

    spear_bonus_2 causes a CTD - spear_bonus_4 is the lowest value available. Also spear_bonus_x only works alongside 'spear' or 'light_spear', if neither of those are present then it has no effect.

    You're welcome. As far as balancing anticav goes I think you'll need to take almost everything else into account to arrive at a final product. Basically get missiles killing the way you like, then get inf fighting the way you like, then get cav plowing through them the way you like, then get anticav dealing with the cav the way you like. You have to start with missiles because it determines the armour values, then you can't balance cav charges without inf being set up already, and then you can't approach anticav without cav being done. And then... pfff you're going to have to go back to infantry combat and look at what the anti cav changes did to your balance there... Good luck

    How do you use the mount feature? Do you mean "mount_effect elephant -4, camel -4"? Is there one that could be peasant +4
    Yes that's the mount feature, and no I'm pretty sure you can only use it again horse / camel / elephant .

    I'm very sure I seen them in Chivalry II and Broken Crescent. and they certainly don't CTD when used.
