This may not be the right place to ask but im not sure if it is legal to rip a dvd onto your computer, edit cut it etc and add music to it then upload the made video onto youtube?

So Yes it is legal. If youtube mutes your video, just use the settle dispute option on the video and paste the above. You'll have your video back in about 2 minutes.

Yes it's legal.

The court has ruled on a parody being a "Fair Use" clause. As a result, the mixation and remix of a song, falls under the fair use claim of the Copyright Digital Millenium Act.


Jaketh is confusing things. I would understand however, as copyright is a tricky thing.

if it was legal then youtube would not have removed one of my videos then put a point on my account, what i usually do now is just paste the original composer and anyone who had to do anything with the song into the description, then it doesnt get pulled

It may be legal under those loopholes, however Youtube doesn't seem to care. I'd probably just avoid it.

It also depends on where the video is being hosted i.e witch country as you will be subject to there copyright laws.
