    Default Any news about 1.5?

Ive been a huge fan of this mod for a long time now and avidly follow the updates for new releases of the mod and all the submods. I was wondering if someone can let me know if there is any new information about 1.5? It doesnt have to be anything too crazy, but maybe any new implementation of units, factions, etc.

Just thought id ask. Thanks CoW team for the awesome mod

All quiet on the eastern front. I dont know if the tem is still working on 1.5. Maybe they are taking some vacations from modding. I still dont know if Feinar's new buildings will be released in version 1.5 or earlier on verson 1.4.5.

    EDIT
From what I've just read on their forum 1.45 is being worked on. So, it's not dead...and they will tell us sth here when they will be ready...no sooner. It's so easy really.

I love the mod and yes I think it is close to complete. Im anxiously awainting THP's real warhammer mod to be released along with the architecture mod.

I guess really, I was wondering if they were going to continue on the mod becuase I remember some of the team members talking about implementing an extended map with a few new factions that never made it through development as sub-mods. The mod is nearly perfect, but being a fan of warhammer for 20 years its just hard to for me to consider it finished when its missing some awesome WHFB factions (bretonnia, lizardmen, skaven, Ogre kingoms, tomb kings, etc.)

This is the game that Games-Workshop should have always released instead of the titles that bombed over the last 2 decades. I just feel like the warhammer world is incomplete without the other factions.

That being said, what the game already has in incredible. I dont have a lot of extra time to sit and play, but when i do i enjoy it thoroughly. Its hard to find people to play the tabletop game these days so this is definitely the next best thing.

Thank you to all of the people who have made this game possible. I hope there is still life in the mod, and i will wait patiently as long as i have to if it is.

i have spoken to russian Gondor and the map that will be used for 1.5 will be greatly resemble this(the one he linked was WAY too big/detailed).
by just looking at this campaign map you should have a clear understanding of the sheer volume of the work involved for all the factions living in this new campaign map (the one he linked extended more towards south and east containing the bad lands and the great Sea).

    what i think CoW needs:

    1) more smaller starting positions so players can expand
    2) merge some Empire factions, you know the borring ones like Ostemark, Nordland, Wissenland, Hochland and Stirland.
making 3 or 4 main empire factions is much more better and leaves more room for conquest
Merge Reikland with Wissenland, Averland with Stirland, Ostland with Ostemarch, Hochland with Talabeland and Middenland with Nordland.
    3) add more invasion or event scripts
    4) by removing the extra empire factions we can have more diverse factions like wood elves, skaven and etc...

edit: dont get emotinal about the province removals, think more of it as an alliance then deletion

Sweet that map looks awesome (in terms of new factions & increased amount of provinces, not just because it is a pretty map)

I agree with these points I think these could be implemented by moving away from the Storm of Chaos timeline and have a more general kind of theme for the campaign. The Empire could be split up as a result of civil war with a few factions similar to the 'Three Emperors' civil war but I guess not everyone would like the idea of an Empire vs Empire campaign.

    What if I love Nordland
BUT! what if they just combinet all 10 into 1, and made it so if you recruit a unit in averheim, the unit will be in black and yellow and with their own banner and etc. etc. (If you get what im rambling about ^^)

oh i think we do need a 1.5 as this is not 'perfect'.
superb as it is, (its the best tw mod ive played, and ive played a lot!) the warhammer mythos is so huge there is room for much much more.
and as someone said above, downloading and installing is something of a nightmare for non computer genius's like me.

M2TW is getting pretty old now. It's now 3 CA game generations behind the times (Empire, Napoleon, Shogun). I'm surprised people are still modding and playing it.

i think the best response from me to you is:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Shogun 2 is basiccaly the same faction recolored a dozen times, Empire is so unstable that you spend more time in the loading screen than the actual game, Napolean was basicaly empire total war but it actually worked minus the 5 hour load time that you had to pay 49$(another) for. the last 3 releases have been epic failures.

I didn't say the new TWs were any good, just that M2TW is mad old and people have moved on. I know I spend most of my time playing Homefront MP and only check the forums to see if Europa Barbarorum II is out yet and other mods' progress.

Not everybody is so quick to accept new 'trends' or hop on the newest bandwagon that moseys along. A lot, and I mean a LOT, of people play Medieval 2, Rome, and even the original 2 bad boys, Medieval and Shogun, because they are, in a general consensus, 'better' than the newer games.

The argument that graphics make a good game is just silly (not saying that is your argument). Mods for Rome have almost (but not exactly) reached the quality of Medieval 2 textures and Medieval 2 mods have easily surpassed the clone wars (see below) featured in Empire, Napolean, and Shogun.

I admit, Medieval 2 has its own flaws as well and it doesn't have the best AI in the world, but it has what no other Total War game has: diversity. It is the only Total War game to-date that doesn't have armies of clones and that actually offered diversity amongst the ranks; not only did this happen through upgrades, but the soldiers themselves at least had 3-4 different models in each unit.

Game play is also a very important aspect to Total War veterans. What fun is fighting an enemy army if it just stands there, looking at the human player dumbfounded? A majority of the members on the Total War forums across the web prefer quality over quantity and Medieval 2 provides them with that sense of grandeur.

The most important factor in why people still play "pretty old" Total War games are because of the mods rather than the vanilla game itself. I mean, Third Age alone probably has more players than Empire: Total War does, even taking into account of those who play ETW using Darthmod (which make the game a lot better in my tastes). Call of Warhammer, Thera, Akthross, Hyrule, Myth, etc. all offer players the chance to play Total War from a fictitious point of view rather than the historical point of view provided by Stainless Steel, Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod, Eras, etc., appealing to those who love fantastical battles and armies over historical scenarios and campaigns. Not to mention that as of right now, all of the "old" Total War games (save for Shogun) have a wider range of mod-ability than the newer generation games (though the newer ones are harder to mod because they are more advanced in their basic functions) which anybody can pick up very quickly and create their own Total War realm of existence. More replay value = more fans

there seem to be an awful lot of people here and in the many other mods that have not 'moved on' as you put it
.i know 12 individuals in real life who play total war games just for the mods, none of them use anything newer than mtw2. partly because they wont (or are unable) to use steam but mainly because there is no need to.
take a close look at the graphics in this mod, there is nothing in etw,ntw or stw2 that would be needed or is better than mtw2.the ai in the latest games is certainly no smarter than mtw2 ,so in what way does the 'mad old' mtw2 fall down or fail to deliver? i own over 250 games yet i play this mod most days, this says a lot for tw games (up to mtw2 anyway).so i and others are not moving on anytime soon. cheers
