    Default Scottish elections

Just wanted to know who the Scot's will e voting for on he 5th of may, the reason being is I have no idea, I'm a Glasgow voter so i always assumed it would be an easy choice and that i would vote Labour however it gets alot more complicated when you actually get to voting age, I want to make an educated choice but there's so much spin in the media i find it very difficult to keep track of who's talking the least

I will not vote Lib Dem that is my only restriction any help would be appreciated cheers

I'm torn about the elections. I absolutely will not vote Labour, there's a start.

To be honest, I think the SNP are the best choice for Government in Scotland: they seem to have (most of) their priorities right and have done a good job so far. I suppose that's always something you can count on from Nationalists: they get into politics because they want to see their country great. Unfortunately, the SNP also want Scottish Independence which is something I'm completely opposed to.

That leaves me with Lib Dems, Tories and Greens. None of whom are really worth voting for here.

Any specific reason you wont vote Labour i know theve done some bad stuff but is there any reason specific to you. The reason i just don't vote SNP is i work in the construction industry specifically schools and i'm still putting 30 coat hooks up and putting 30 desks into classrooms after SNP promises at the last Scottish election they would reduce class sizes also i dont agree with Scottish independence.

Two wars without increasing military budget: the Armed Forces, especially the Royal Navy, are considerably worse off now than they were before the wars. The RN is a broken force and the Army has retention problems. It is for a similar reason I refuse to vote Tory: the SDSR was a cost-cutting exercise, not a practical review of strategic goals.

Signing the Lisbon Treaty without any sort of referendum, vote, etc. Again, the promised Tory referendum has yet to materialise.

Consistent overspending and borrowing throughout their term in Westminster. Brown Bottom.

Failure to address immigration, dogmatic persuit of multiculturalism. So far I like the Tory idea of a skills system.

That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure I could create a much longer list if I had to. I generally dislike Labour's very philosophy of governance: they spend rampantly without generating any additional revenue, bloat the public sector without regard (half of Scotland's economy is in the public sector. Fully half.) and throw the Armed Forces around into various commitments, some vast and expensive, without increasing funding to match.

I'm a year too young to vote () but I (controversially) would have voted Labour, mostly due to me not trusting the Tories. It's frustrating that Scottish politics don't get much time on Scottish TV, i could tell you more about the English situation than our own.

Voting for SNP is not the same as voting for independence. You can still vote no in the referendum in the unlikely event we ever have one. I don't know who I would vote for tbh. I'll research it properly next time when I am able to vote, but I'd be leaning towards the SNP, since their education policies seem to be the best.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

    What's the priority in Scotland?
National independence now or political and economical stability in such a turbulent times?

For the SNP: Throw of the chains of the Evil English Oppressors!

For everyone else: please don't sack me, I'll do anything except pay for more things, or pay more for things I already pay for.

Positively clueless myself. I've not read into it majorly but the general gist is:

    Torries: :wub:s

Labour: Less :wub:s than the Torries

    SNP: :wub:s who want independence.

Take out indepedence and I would go for SNP and I know I can always say no in the referendum but this country is so full of idiots I think they would swallow the shite they spiel and actually vote yes so I'd rather not leave it to chance.

This was, somewhat, the image i had for the politics in Scotland

Their policies are certainly admirable, although how they are expecting to pay for:

Massive infrastructure improvements like a Glasgow airport rail link and the new Forth road crossing

No tuition fees for university students

Protecting the NHS from all frontline staffing cuts

Scrapping short prison sentences and general restructuring of police forces

Generally trying to preserve our ridiculously bloated public sector unnecessarily.

...and that in a nutshell is why they won’t. They'd be absolutely stuffed economically.
