Default debating which faction i should pick

so i am anxiously waiting for BC 2.3 to be released but while i wait do you guys have any suggestions as to which factions i should try out?

i am interested in two factions, first i wanted to know, since i am very uneducated about medieval middle-eastern history, which faction i should pick to rebuild the persian empire before the arab Caliphate, is there any factions besides khawarazim shah(or whatever) that aren't uzbecks?
and which faction is most difficult to play? (i want a challenge )

    thanks

The most difficult faction to play is georgia. It is really the hardest. I tried to play them around 4-5 times, but every time I try to play them, I get attacked from all sides, with a sucky economy. The good point about them, is that they have one of the best unit rosters.
I recommend you to play the Abassid caliphate, if this is the first time you play broken crescent. They have got a good economy, good starting position, but a weak unit roster.
Oman could also be a decent choice. You can expand your empire, without have to fear an attack from other factions.

I recommend you to install the new battle system found here:

There isn't any pure Persian faction to rebuild Persian empire in 2.3 , but Mazandaran(pure Persian) one of the 3.0's factions.

georgia is easy when you figure out the diplomacy system, you need to trade the kypchaks a region for an alliance... you can get an alliance with the romans for free right at the start. Now you can focus on hoovering up the rebel settlements (of which there are plenty)

the abbasids have a great roster, easy access to elite spearman and infantry plus many types of cavalry.

Hardest faction is probably armenia... poor economy and surrounded by romans and turks who will gladly attack you with full stacks. Takes some clever diplomacy to secure the borders

Armenia? Serious? They have a good starting economy, their ealry roster is neat and can capture Antioch in 1 turn. Just make a lot of alliences and don't DON'T get yourself in war with another faction, except if they are already at war with someone else.

Oman is my favourite team so I recommend it. Just expand down Arabia, avoid annoying the Abbasids or Ayyubids until your ready and if you want hit India like I did. After I took out the Solanki Rajputs (Vassalized, gave them the Chauhan territories and we're Bffls now) I was sitting in cash. Arabian Lancers are amazing at charging and Ansar Warriors are also excellent heavy infantry. They also have crossbows and a powerful navy (Idk if that matters in BC to some point ) Oman is like the bully of BC, aim for the weakest nation near you. Rajputs, Makuria, by then you'll be a powerhouse and with settlements near Ghazni and Sindh it allows you to strike anywhere. If your attacked there send reinforcements from Arabia, if your attacked in Arabia send reinforcements from there. Good fun, just they lack good armour early on.

Biggest challenge was the KoJ for me. No money at all and the Ayyubids literally enclosed me then attacked and crushed me

    Makuria

No armour, mostly light infantry in the beginning and medium infantry after, Abbuyids is very dangerous foe and KoJ is even more deadly.

Most difficult battle as you have to micromanage and exploit tactical advantage to rout the enemy forces piecemeal.

well i reconnend playing as KOJ if you look for a challenge because its very hard to let them earn money, luckily they have a good roster but its all about money money money

they are also surrounded by the Ayyubids and many foes whoms economy is great

I'm enjoying the Ghorids (changed to Ghurids?) I like how the starting position includes some maniac who's somewhat far into enemy territory and there's no easy way for him to get back into your lands. Yet he has no siege equipment or even any dismounted men so he's not too useful right off the bat for an attack either.

I'm really liking some of their units too.
