    Default Stronger Rebels

    Rebels have always seemed like too much of a pushover and I would really like to make them stronger to the point where they will really hinder my progress in the early game. I would probably like to increase the spawn rate a bit, but more importantly, I would like to see bigger rebel armies blocking off my roads and devastating my lands.

    I know there's the brigand_spawn_value in descr_strat, but I'm not really 100% sure what that does. I remember being told a long while back that it affected spawn chance of all rebel armies. Is that true?

    I also took a look at descr_rebel_factions. I see lots and lots of small armies listed there along with a "chance" value, which I would assume is their chance of spawning every turn? Would the way to increase rebel army size be to go through each of these armies and add lots of units to each of them?

    In my mod, in the descr_strat.txt, REDrake packed the rebel settlements and gave the Slave faction a massive amount of starting cash. It seems to work to some extent.

    Alright I will go ahead and give them 50 million starting cash, 100 thousand kings purse, and start all the slave settlements with a 20 stack and see how that works out. Thank you.

    Edit: Also, do you know what those armies listed in descr_rebel_factions are? Or what the chance means? Or do you know where I would be able to read up on it? I tried reading the page on TWC wiki but didn't really get any clear answers.

    I'm not sure if the chance is left over from RTW. If I remember correctly, if you lower the chance # the greater of chance each unit would be spawned. If you would like more units in the spawned rebel armies, just place more units in that roster field. You would then get larger armies spawned.

    Ahh okay that is what I tried. I changed every single rebel army in descr_rebel_factions to full 20 stacks, but I could swear I still saw a 6 unit rebel army spawned. Maybe it wasn't an army spawn, but just some units that left a nearby rebel settlement or something. I will try it out again. Thank you for the response.

    Edit: I tried it again and I'm completely positive that it's not working. I just saw a 6 unit rebel stack spawn on my road northwest of Winchester and there isn't even a single rebel settlement left on the whole island. So it was definitely a rebel army that spawned there. Could there be another file that I'd have to change to make randomly spawning rebel armies bigger?

    descr_rebel_factions:
    defines the make up of the stack that spawns, not the stack itself. eg if there are six units listed then a stack will consist of these units percentage wise (16% in this case for each unit listed). The size of the stack is most likely linked to the unrest level.
    Your example has 13 units, meaning each unit is approximately 8%:

    brigand_spawn_value:
    The lower this number the faster the rebels spawn. Their spawning probability is linked to the unrest level of a region.
    Look at it this way: spawn_value * unrest_value = spawn_probability

    So the only way to increase rebel spawn size is to increase unrest then? Hmm...maybe if I changed this

    That would triple unrest, right? And then maybe I could increase some of the public order bonus modifiers as well to compensate. Hopefully that'll work. Thanks for the response.
