    Default Unspecified Errors/Tolerable Level of CTD expectancy

    ...I appreciate that the probability of CTD’s is commensurate with the amount of time played and am aware of the Unpacker “damage your installation” warning...and that not all mods will be compatible...
    ...To cut a long story short...Med 2 Patched to 1.3...unpacked...various mods...CTD’s....
    ...Fresh install...less mods...still CTD’s...as I am trying to narrow the cause...
    ...Have in CFG. File [log] to = logs/system.log.txt level = * error blah blah and so I have two log reports...but still get “20:22:15.109 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.”...
    ...Obviously, I don’t want to accuse/report back on the mods feedback until I’ve exhausted everything myself...the problem is that some CTD’s are replicable at certain points...others, just reload and play past them...
    .. Is there something else I am supposed to have done in CFG to “Specify” and list the errors so I can narrow down the cause?...
    ...or is Medieval 2 renown like “Empire” for CTD’s and memory dumps...or especially temperamental when unpacked and modded? etc...
    ...Obviously, playing through handfuls of unpacked vanilla campaigns to get an average/comparison is a bit impractical, (and don't think i've ever had a Vanilla CTD so it's probably the Unpacking or the mod?)
    ...but I quickly ask here first...

    Can you start a campaign with just Medieval2 version 1.0 installed?

    ...aaagh TimedOut!...

    ...edit, Vanilla Hard copy patched 1.3 runs fine...
    ...what I'm trying to find out in a roundabout sort of way is if there is anything else I can do to "specify" the unspecified error report so it say's "memory dump"...or "map not found"...or "unpacking crash" so I can think maybe it's a map mod blah blah or maybe it's graphics etc...
    ...or whether it's just a question of "You play unpacked with mods, its just to be expected"...???
    ...I've tried tricks like turning off autosave etc...and, for example, if I was playing Empire, I would expect the game to wipe out constantly etc...
    ...I know its almost speculative??/ questioning, but I just try asking to see if I acn narrow it down...before perservering with my campaign...

    What mods do you have installed? Are they modfoldered?

    ...many thanks for replies, but I think through study I am narrowing it down to predominantly CTD's on the rebels turn and most likely a mod error ...
    ...I've seen a post on the Mod's homepage about future versions pondering over other mod compatabilty with rebels...and I think it may not be other mods compatabilty, but the host mod itself...?
    ...I will play some more to see if I can finalize specifics (hard with unspecified errors ha ha ha), then post onto the Mod's homepage...
    ...I was just seeing if i could be 100% certain before it looked like I was accusing without facts...
    ...Many thanks, Irishron,

    ...Edit, typical, just found this...I should have just waited a day http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=142374

    ...Is anyone able to quickly speculate upon my test log, please?
    ...I am using , basically, HRSM 2.0 with Heraldic ancilliary mod and it usually crashes on the Rebel AI cycle...
    ...according to the post above, this is likely an ancilliary problem (trigger?) and I've noticed this txt is listing Triggers before the unspecified error...
    ...but i don't know enough about Medieval modding to decipher it..Many thanks, in advance

    ...CFG is set to this version...
    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    level=*script* trace

    ...the CTD's are strange in that they start...I reload and play through them...then they just become prolific and happen after every turn....?
    ...If it is too much bother, no matter...I just try to achieve a gnosis...then peace...
    ...I already report back on the mod Homepage, this is just my final effort, if i can't resolve it, i have to call it quits and unload this particular mod...

    IF it is just random, you can reload your save and go another turn, It's in the hardcode.

    IF you can reload the save and it crashes at the same place, and the same spot on the log, it's in your mod. This is when the log is really inportant.

    I learned this the hard way.
