I downloaded a new MB driver for my new Asus board. It came as a ROM zip file; unzipped it to Desktop - now, What?
How? and Where? do I install it to?
Can somebody give me some instructions?
Thank you.

Are you trying to perform a motherboard bios update? You shouldn't need a .ROM file for simple drivers. If you are you probably need to download a piece of flashing software off the manufacturers website.
The directions should have been included with the file itself. Are you sure there is no readme in that zip at all? Failing that go back to the Asus site and look for the instructions.
It will probably need to be either burned to a disc or put on a flash drive and then you'll need to point the BIOS to either the optical drive or that flash drive for boot up. Good luck!

I am trying to update the driver, since the computer is showing a double- cold-load" when starting.
I downloaded the file from Asus DL section (as suggested in one computer Forum) - there are no instructions on how to get this driver to replace the current driver that came with the MB.
Perhaps through the BIOS - will give this a try!
I thought someone with more experience would know.
Well without specifics it's hard to tell you from this end.
My guess is like I said - put the file on a flash drive and then set the system to boot from that flash drive. I'm betting the file will run as read only memory and flash the mobo firmware for you. After it's run it's course then reset the system to boot from the hard drive again.
What Asus board (make and model) do you have? Maybe someone here can find the readme for you. Good luck!

Excellent point.
@Fridericus Rex - Are you trying to install a new driver for your motherboard or are you trying to flash the BIOS? These are two very different things. And as you said that you got this info from another forum board would you care to tell us what board that was? Post the URL if you could.
Sometimes I miss those days. At least there weren't any driver conflicts to track down.![]()

Is it one of the old goodies you need a floppy drive for?
BIOS version will also show up in the dxdiag.
