I seem to getting some small black rectangles on the campaign map. They look like an error of some kind with the texture files but that is not it because they are there when I remove the custom textures as well. Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

Try setting your graphic options to another shader, change the antialiasing level (etc).
Yeah it looks like a map error of some kind because they are all a perfect rectangle in shape and they are there no matter what textures I use. In the pic below look in the lower middle and then a bit up and to the right on the other side of the mountains. Those little black rectangle appear sporadically around the map. They are in the default M2TW map as well and no amount of driver or in game settings effects them in any way. Strange.

Did some searching, I guess this was an official bug that was supposed to be fixed in the 1.5 patch. Odd... maybe time for a clean install.
Well I did a full reinstall and a clean patch up (US non-gold because I have the actual Kingdoms retail expansion box) to 1.5 Kingdoms. They are not on the Kingdoms maps but they are on the standard M2 Grand Campaign map and and as well on the SS map. I wonder what is going on? I might have always had them because for a long time I used the mapmod/dlv textures and they are more "splotchy" and could cover the rectangles up better. I now use a cleaner and I think better texture set and the rectangles "pop" a bit more now.
