    Default Securom problem

    Hello all,

after years of playing modded R:TW, I finally got M2TW Gold. The install took its sweet time, but now everything is fixed and patched, so it should run fine... only it doesn't.

Only M2TW Vanilla launches. It runs fine, too. But none of the Kingdoms campaigns will start. It keeps saying "wrong DVD inserted", but no matter whether I put in the 1st or 2nd disc, it keeps saying the same.

I also installed two mods from here, Broken Crescent and Sicilian Vesper, and none of these will launch, either. Even though Broken Crescent is a vanilla mod.

Any idea what I could do about that? Is it a known problem with the Gold edition?
    Thanks in advance.

It can be a number of things and not be Securom.

What Gold version do you have - dvds or a download like Steam?

Actual DVDs that came in a boxed jewelcase. It's 2 discs, going by the install procedure the first contains vanilla and the second has the add-on.

Ah, I just realized this thread should probably have gone in the technical help board. Sorry for the mixup, didn't see it before.

    Moved to Tech Help.

Have you tried installing the Kingdoms 1.05 patch?

    Then, it's not SecuRom.

Are you logged in as Administrator?
Are you trying to use the launcher for the Knigdoms campaigns and the two mods?

I do have Win7, and I just checked, yes my account has Admin rights.

I have also tried using the Launcher. When clicking on a Kingdoms option, it complains "wrong disc inserted" again, but changing to the other disc at that point doesn't help either.

    The Desktop shortcuts likewise.

    Really, I'm stumped.
Could it have to do with the fact that I installed the game on drive D? I had to tricks a little to avoid having it crammed on C.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!
    Huzzah!

Some Google-Fu revealed that this is a typical problem with the edition from this label.
Sega actually released an official NoCD-exe to make the game accessible. =) Only for the German version, though.
I downloaded this file from the Sega homepage, and now the game launches without fuss.

    Anyway, thanks for your efforts!

In the off chance that it is securom - uninstall daemon tools (if you have it). Your problem sounds a lot like the one I had, granted this was a couple of years ago on xp.

Now that is interesting. It looks like that may be a new question to ask when dealing with this kind of problem. Good luck!
