The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved.
yes, although putting archers on the walls instead are highly recommended, but if you put peltast on your walls during a siege they will fire at the enemy.

Make sure you put some infantry up on the walls, too; or have enough firepower to make sure the enemy doesn't even get to the top of the walls, otherwise your archers get creamed.
It is also a boatload of fun to get your archers to the top of an enemy city's wall. Send Principes in on either side, possibly using sieg towers. Once they have secured the wall, send up your archers up in between them with ladders. Move the entire Principe-Archer-Principe sandwich formation to anywhere on the wall that you have a target. Some enemy units will insist on sticking around to guard that front gate. Unless it is a testudo formation, it is toast in 10 or 20 seconds. Even the mighty war elephants can be turned with impunity, using fire arrows. It is so fun to watch the elephants running amok on the enemy, from the safety of a perch that the enemy provided. Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!!
Is there a way to place your archer/other missile infantry on the wall before the invasion or do you have to have them run up there when the battle starts?
Of course, before you click the button to begin the battle, just move your missle units to the top of the walls.Originally Posted by Avgvstvs Octavian
