    Default Mamluks ?

Although I love islamic history in medieval times, something about the Heavy Cavalry Mamluks looks a little strange to me I'm sure im not the only person who thinks this way. They look kinda weird in their regular armor form, but once their armor is upgraded they start to look okay. Are their any mini mods that include a reskin for the Mamluks ?

    thanks

You can change their skin so it always looks like their upgraded armor version. I'll show you an example, but I'm using the Stainless Steel mod, so my Mamluk entry might look slightly different from yours. But it's the same basic concept that I'm trying to show you.

    era 1 egypt
    era 2 egypt

In the bolded line, Mamluks is their unupgraded skin, Mamluks_ug1 is their skin with one upgrade, and Mamluks_ug2 is their skin with 2 or 3 upgrades. You can change that line to look like this if you always want them to look like the first upgrade
    Code:
    Mamluks_ug1, Mamluks_ug1, Mamluks_ug1, Mamluks_ug1
Or like this if you always want them to look like the second upgrade.
    Code:
    Mamluks_ug2, Mamluks_ug2, Mamluks_ug2, Mamluks_ug2

I'm using stainless steel as well

Okay, well would it be possible to make them look like another cavalry unit, such as the Arab cavalry ?

Here is the Arab Cavalry entry

    voice_type Light

    officer Arab_Cavalry_ug1
    officer eastern_captain_early_flag
    mount eastern horse

    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_withdraw, can_formed_charge

    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 955, 200, 100, 75, 755, 4, 120
    armour_ug_levels 2, 6, 10
    armour_ug_models Arab_Cavalry, Arab_Cavalry_ug1, Arab_Cavalry_ug2
    ownership moors, egypt, slave
    era 0 moors, egypt
    era 1 moors, egypt
    era 2 moors, egypt
    recruit_priority_offset 15

You'd need to switch the bolded parts into the Mamluk entry in order to make them look like Arab Cavalry. Note that this may change the balance of the unit since you're giving them a different horse, which might have a different mass, which could make them stronger or weaker when charging. Also, you'd need to make sure the "armour_ug_models" has 4 entries because the Mamluks has 4 armor upgrades, while Arab Cavalry only has 3. So you could just repeat the last entry twice and change it to "Arab_Cavalry, Arab_Cavalry_ug1, Arab_Cavalry_ug2, Arab_Cavalry_ug2" so that there are 4 entries.

Edit: I just checked descr_mount, and Arab Cavalry horses have 2.5 mass while Mamluk default horses have 3.0 mass. So you will be losing some charge effectiveness by changing up the mounts. You could change the mass of Arab Cavalry horses to 3.0, but that might also make other units using that type of horse more powerful. Alternatively, I believe it would be possible to simply change the model of the default Mamluk horse to the default Arab Cavalry horse. I've never tried this myself, but it looks like it would work. Try changing the bolded part below to "mount_fast_pony"
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    type early heavy horse
    class horse
    model Mount_Heavy_Horse_Marka
    radius 1.2
    x_radius 0.5
    y_offset 0.7
    height 2.5
    mass 3.0 ;changed from 4.0 29/4/05
    banner_height 0
    bouyancy_offset 1.8
    water_trail_effect horse_water_trail
    root_node_height 1.0
    rider_offset 0.0, 0.38, 0.70

Again, I'm not 100% sure if changing the horse model will work, so be sure to backup your descr_mount before trying that. Also, if you decide to change the mount model for Mamluk horses, then there is obviously no need to change their mount line in export_descr_units.
