    Default Family Members/Marriages

If this has been covered before, please forgive me. I've searched through the forum but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

I have been running into a problem on several campaigns in which I have expanded my territories 2-3 times the amount of my starting provinces, but my family tree isn't expanding. I have an heir, but he's 39, married with no children. In addition, his brothers are single and all of my princesses which are married have no children as well. The daughters who are not princesses and additional male family members are getting no marriage proposals. Basically, what has happened to many others.

I have read that this is because of a built in formula on vanilla that correlates between territories and familiar members.

Is there a way to change this in a script somewhere or is this something that has to be endured? I should mention that I am not super family with changing the inner-workings of m2tw and would appreciate a breakdown in laymen terms if possible.

Thanks in advance for you help. This is a great mod, by the way. Keep up the great work!

Yes, the number of family members is scripted with the number of regions. If you capture a couple more regions, odds are a few kids may get cranked out.

If you don't mind using console commands you can use these to make a family member more likely to have kids. If you don't how to use these get the family member alone on the strategy game and select him. Then type these into the console

Just how many settlements do you have, and how many family members / generals ?

Note that non-family Generals also counts when it comes to general-per-settlement ratio. So if you have too many generals already, it may cause your family tree to stop expanding as well. If that's the case, you need to gather some of them in the same army and accidentally send them on a well fortified enemy settlement/army and blame bad intelligence.

Also, it would be better if you can provide us some screenshots of your family tree and current map.

No it can't be changed. It's hardcoded within the game engine.

4 children max per couple in your family tree. Avoid "Man of the Hour" adoptions - stick with recruiting Generals from your higher level castles if you are playing SS6.4 as they do not add to your family tree, but give you the extra general/governor you may be looking for. The four traits listed by KillerBee do amazing things to expand your family tree quickly. As I also seem to kill a lot of during battles, it helps.

I don't know of any limit per couple. A couple can have as many kids as the region/general ratio script allows unless I am mistaken. I have had generals with 7 or 8 children many times.

No the limit is 4. It can be set higher but it breaks the game.

Seriously? Lol I haven't modded any of that, and I got a family with 7 or 8 before. All of the males became generals properly without any glitches or crashes. If by breaks you mean the daughters don't become princesses then that has happened to me before. Strange.

It has been modded past 4 members, yet they do not appear in family tree, even though it says they are family members on the cards.
So it is best to leave that modding alone.

Best is look into skills of each family member general and make sure that they are healthy and fertile, go out fight often and win more land.
Man of the Hour, does add to the family tree and adoptions come with the land ... hope the children will happen for you too.

I have modded it and few other have too. It does not usually break/crash the game but it does not truly add real family members.

The 4 is all that is shown, those are the only real family members.

It is not what I was trying to say, sorry for bring it up and getting off subject.

All that truly adds to family members is the FERTILITY and the amount of land you have.

Lol then it is strange. I remember distincly having 8 kids from one general in my first SS campaign as the Knights Templar. All the sons became generals properly.

Generals ok. How about adding to the family tree?

As in they properly came of age as family members with their bodyguards in the campaign map. Some of the daughters failed to become princesses, but that was the only problem with it.
