Archbishop Axel Damgaard arrives at the request of one of his closest friend's sons. Against his best wishes he arrives by carriage wearing his full vestments, he would prefer to arrive on fot in his normal travelling attire but he felt that this would be an occasion for formality.

A cautious Richius arrives, he is unsure what this is about.

Arthur Raglan, the son of Richius and in the care of the Archbishop also steps out. He stays close to the Archbishop, though leaves for a moment to greet his father before returning.

Axel whispered to the young boy.

Be cautious now Arthur, these are powerful people, all with conflicting interests. Speak only when spoken to by them but always listen. What people say may not always be what they mean, an attentive listener will always pick up on this.

Thomas Nash had taken a shine to the young boy, having never had a child of his own. He stood behind him now ready to defend either him or the Archbishop if need be.

Richard welcomed them all and turned to the Archbishop,

"Would you agree, Your Grace, that the King has neglected his divinely appointed duty?"

Axel clasped his hands together uncomfortably.

Perhaps... On two counts maybe. As the Defender of the Realm he has done little to eradicate the bandits that fester in Kent and other areas and as a Keeper of the Faith his attendance has been lacking during certain occasions.

    The Archbishop's eyes widened.

England's lands in France are under attack? What of Cherbourg?

Lord Montgomery, our lands in France have yet to have a single Frenchman set foot upon them.

Yet Englishmen are surrounded in a city that was once ours and our allies cry for help. Is it not what a man of honour does? Helps those who request his help, follow through on promises given. We gave our word to the people of Burgundy and Brittany if we do not help them then our word as a nation is meaningless.

"Our" lands, include not only my father's former holdings in Normandy, but also Aquitaine which was English for far longer than it was French.

I seem to recall opposing these sorts of promises.. Richius mumbles under his breath.

Let me ask you Lord Blackadder, if say Normandy were to rebel, and an army of Frenchmen ocupied Roeun, would you not be calling for their destruction? So when a french city rebels, and we fill it with englishmen should France react any differently?

Richius asked him. He had alot of respect for the Blackadders, but the warmongering of the English nobility, and their utter hipocrisy sickened him sometimes.

However we did not strike first our allies were attacked and we came to their aid. If the French had wished for peace then they had ample opportunity for it they chose not to so are you saying that we should allow this affront to god and to England to continue? If the French had not attacked Brittany not a single Englishmen would be on French soil. So any fault is theirs not ours.
