The game 6.4 doesn´t start

This is first time ever I occure problem like this. I just installed old Stainless steel 6.3 (I have the files in my computer when I last time downloaded them about six months ago). I downoladed Stainless steel 6.4 patch. When I installed the 6.3 version, the game started itself with no problem. Just asked for CD. I installed the 6.4 patche and this is where the problem starts. It says: Game launcher error. An the game just woun´t start. What I did wrong? Thank you for any hints.

Do you use steam? Did you run ss_setup.exe?

I have box version of MTW II and Kingdoms. Steam is in my computer because of Empire. And what do you mean with setup.exe? I installed the 6.4 over the old 6.3 and that was it. Can this be the problem?

If you go to your Medieval 2 folder/mods/SS 6.3/ and run ss_setup.exe, select submods and campaign and try again. You can also try running the SS_Launcher.exe which is inside the same folder

If you get an extensive error message please provide a screenshot of it. Might be dll related.

I have figured it out. I made stupid mistake. The path of installation of 6.4 was incorrect. It did installed to MTW II/mods/SS6.3 but the thing is, it created another folder SS6.3 within original SS6.3 folder. So I had to modify the path and it is ok now. Thank you.

I am using windows vista, Using disc installed medi 2 and kingdoms, installed all fresh as was having problems starting game. isntalled 6.3 worked fine, installed 6.4 didnt work. would load so i see the 6.4 and templar guy then just cut off and go back to desktop with no error message. I looked through other threads and found something about UAC so i did what that said. i reinstalled and then when it came to set up it let me set up and when i clicked start it worked. ! however, once close game and try to start later it doesnt work... anyone any ideas? im guesing its having trouble with some files? as it goes to load, i can hear my disc spinning but then just stops. many thanks in advance. and whoever makes this stuff is a legend. I wont donate but i would buy you a pint if i ever had the chance.

right click ss6.4.exe and click run as adminstrator...i had that problem that it would only load properly out of the setup and doing that fixed it so the launcher would work later
