    Default Game is slow

During the main menu and the menu for choosing whether you want campaign, custom, ect, the game runs fine, but once I go into either campaign selection or custom battle selection the game slows down quite a bit, and takes a while to get through that.

Any help? Also, during some battles, the game crashes completely. Kind of annoying, but I now save at the start of every battle just in case. But it's unfortunate cause earlier I managed to trap my enemy and was killing them very well before it crashed, and when I reloaded the enemy didn't make the same mistake again and I suffered.

The original Rome Total War runs fine. Barbarian Invasion and Alexander (the bases of this mod and FATW) suffer the same thing. It makes no sense cause the animations for BI and RTW are the exact same on the menus.

so it is surely not about the mod. maybe reinstalling rome total war and its expansions would help.

I tried it with BI and when I tried playing again the same thing happened. If anything it was almost like it got worse. It makes no sense that BI should run slowly when RTW doesn't and they use the same menu screens and animations.

try to not launching the mod via JGSME, that program actually overwrite the RAM memory and can be pressing in system with minimum specifications, better manually make the shortcut.

It's not just the two mods that suffer from it. Barbarian Invasion and Alexander also suffer.

So you think that reinstalling should help?

Hm this problem once happened to me before. I guest you're using another RTW folder. Try to reinstall LOTR mod. If it didn't work. Try to create another RTW without any mods then install LOTR on it

It doesn't just affect LOTR. This slowness affects Barbarian Invasion, Alexander, and any mods I have installed under them, such as this one and FATW. RTW is the only one that works perfectly. I have reinstalled BI and it did nothing to make anything better. I think it has more to do with the BI and Alexander than it has to do with the mods.

as I said, this could be related to registry, RTW has the correct registry, and both your BI and Alex are placed in wrong line, or doesn't exist in registry

That is most likely the case I think. I haven't installed anything in centuries but I remember such nonsense problems. If it affects BI and ALX then it is something to do those expansions. First uninstall evarything and install again in a new folder, so all is 100% clean. 95% of time that is the solution if you are following correct install paths. Direct X could be the problem. When doing an upgrade the program could see the folder, think it already installed and just skip it. Find the folder, delete it manually and install Direct X. 2 cores is not a plus with Rome but not likely to slow it so, honestly I dont know about that. Graphical card drivers I have never in my life updated, had no problems. Find a way to play Bi on normal speed and that should be it.

Also: Okay so originally changing the preferences worked. Now, after rebooting my computer and reinstalling the game, I change the preferences and it didn't work. I deleted the preferences to let the game regenerate it, and it didn't create a new preferences. What should I do?

You got it to work and then you removed it? Why? Why not just play it? I do not understand.

I had to reboot my entire computer due to it having major problems. Then when I installed the game, changing the preferences no longer changed anything in game. Why, I have no clue.

I am using it too. It does it no matter if it is on or off. And wouldn't it affect the original RTW?

    ...That's not really helpful...Lol

It's frustrating cause I love making custom games and it takes forever with it being slow.
