    Default Question about descr_campaign_db

    Code:
            <priest_religion_export float="0.6"/>
            <!-- if my religion in foreign region < religion_export then then we will export our religion in this region -->
    It seems in descr_campaign_db that AI priests basically work on a priority system where they will move to certain regions depending on how urgently they are needed there. So, for example, if heresy reaches certain points they will send higher level priests and make it their highest priority. My question is about this specific line. It seems like if their religion level in any enemy region is less than 60%, they will send priests to convert the population.

    If they were to convert the population in that region to at least 60%, would they automatically move to another region to start converting there? Or would they need something with higher priority in order to move? If so, is there any way to tell which objectives have higher priority? I would guess that quelling heresy > converting their own regions > converting enemy regions. Is that how it works?

    If that is how it works, then would converting your enemy's regions to your religion force them to withdraw their priests from your land and back to theirs since converting their own regions is a higher priority?

    You are on the right track. You can test this by sending some of your priests to a different religion held region. Lets say from venice to egypt. Apart from loosing a few to heresy you should also see the egyptian imams eventually flocking to the region your priests are in.

    Logic would dictate that they will move away to another (lower religion) region after they have achieved 60% again.

    Thank you. I was getting a bit annoyed whenever I try to do a chivalrous campaign where I do not use assassins. It becomes impossible to deal with enemy priests. I increased the minimum religion level allowed for the AI in their own regions to 99% and decreased maximum heresy allowed to 1%. So far it's working quite well to keep everyone's religious agents in their own territory.

    Keep us posted, I would imagine the changes are somewhat extreme as it would effectively 'nail' priests into place.

    "Sigh" Must be having another one of my thick days again, there's no reference to this <priest_religion_export float="0.6"/> in my descr_campaign_db. Can anyone give me any info on where this comes from and where do i put it in the .db.
    Thanks.

    Yup, that's pretty much what it's doing. Most factions seem to have spread out their priests equally among their settlements. They also immediately retreat their priests as soon as I take an enemy settlement, which is very nice. I might increase the maximum heresy allowed back up to 5% though just so the AI doesn't think all of its settlements are under attack by heretics.

    It's not in the vanilla version, you need to use one of the kingdoms versions.
