Is my HardDrive dead... or about to die?

ok.. i posted on here about hardrive issues previously, but today was the end all be all. i went to my computer and started it up but nothing!!!

went to bios and my HD was not even there anymore!!!

so i opened my computer up and reconnected the plugs, and just did a re check... the next time i started it up, went to bios... and it was there... YIPEEE! so i tried to start up vista, but it just hung with a black screen.

so i restarted my computer, opened bios right away and my HD was not there!

opened up my computer again, unpluged and repluged the HD to both its power and mobo connection... restarted the computer, and started bios.... and it there YIPEEE!!!... again tried vista and it did nothing... but i left it trying to load for seral minutes... but no go

restarted my computer, did bios... and guess what... its gone!!!


ok...

replugged... put it in a new sata port, and a new power cord... restarted... it was there in bios... loaded vista DVD to repair... and it was there. repaired... and it said there were no problems... restarted, and it hanged again.

restarted, and the HD disappeared... went toe VISTA DVD and there were no Drives recongnized... so i opened the it up again... re plugged the HD... did bios..... and its there!!!


I am in dire straights... any clue here? any advice would be much appreciated...

currently i loaded up the VISTA DVD and am in the process of doing a clean install... but will this help??? especailly if the HD is die'n???

update... the attempt to do a clean install failed... it looked as if it was going good, then the screen went blank (1st thought it was going though some type of install phase) and remained so...

soooo... any ideas?

Looks to me it's dead bro.

Anyways do you have any other drive in which you can install an OS? As through that run Hard drive health etc on the original hard drive attached as secondary to see its health.
You even changed the SATA and power cables so that crosses out the witch the cables....

When installing windows did you formatted the drive?
