Rome Total War Directx 9 Error

Whenever I attempt to play R:TW the game is unable to get past the first title screen (The small box with the title) before stating that:

"Rome: Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall DirectX."

I have the latest version of DirectX on my computer and updated Video cards.

You still need directx 9.0c. Dx11 is not that backward compatible. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

It is best done with the YAC disabled. http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to...-in-windows-7/ You can re-enable it after if more comfortable with it.

Ok I downloaded the file but it will not install. It informs me that I already have a newer (or equivalent) version of DirectX installed and that no further action is necessary. As far as I am aware, there is no way to uninstall, then reinstall DirectX on Windows 7.

This is why you have to disable the UAC so it will install. You will get this message if you don't. I had to download the full package to desktop and run it from there to get Win 7 to accept it.
