    Close Bow (CB):

Lightly armoured Turkic horse archers, armed with a bow designed to skirmish fire from close range, these riders almost never miss and the power they generate from there short bow is enough to rip holes in the unlucky man who had the bad fortune to get in the way.

    Regular/Recurve Bow (RB):

Turkic horse archers descended from the eastern Steppe. These men are armed with a recurve bow effective at close and medium ranges from the intended target. Accuracy suffers at range. The unit's lack of armour makes them especially fast, able to outrun the most persistent of persuers ensuring that they get to fight another day.

Yes to put it simply, the close bow (CB) horse archers must move in close to attack, risking melee fights with their targets. But, they are armor piercing and much more powerful than other bow units.

The regular bow (RB) horse archers do not need to risk closing with their targets, having a much longer range. However their bows are not armor piercing.

They are the same men, using different bows, and thus slightly different tactics. The CB's are not better melee fighters nor do they wear better armor they only have greater shot power. They can still outrun most enemies but the risk is that you will more easily get tangled up in a brawl since you have to get close to deliver your damage.

Since they are not recriutable, would I love to see them recruitable (they where in BC 1 am I correct?). Instead of just making horse archers, it will add a new depth to the game.
