    Default Good buy?

Ive been thinking about getting a UPS for several years now.. I am pretty sure power loss has caused harddrive failures Ive had in the past.

This is the one I bought.. for the system listed in my signature.. (except i ditched the seagate for a samsung spinpoint)

i dont use UPS i should but i dont if i did id tell you from experience i can say most of my friends on TPU use them without issue more or less as a way of helping get clean power to the PC and help stop surges and brownouts from causing damage over time.

looks to have good reviews and for your rig you should be good for around 12-13mins of battery backup which isnt half bad.

The good thing Ive seen is the in house software shuts down your computer for you... some guys were complaining because it automatically cuts power after 2 minutes after shutdown is initiated.. personally I'm going to test it out myself

My computer has never taken 2 minutes to turn off anyway. I calculated wattage to be between 280 and 310

seldom will you get the time thats rated on the box when power goes out, biggest bonus to a UPS is stable power to the system, for instance, my houses wiring is old, my system could do 4.2ghz cpu 2.8 northbridge, with my gpus at 1000 core 1500 mem, but at that point the power getting drawn from the wall isnt really stable aka dirty power, makes it harder on the psu to output clean power to the system so with a UPS and without is a big difference in my systems stability at heavy overclocks, and in general a stable power just makes sure your electronics live longer.

That looks similar to a Tripp-Lite, but I have never used that brand before. I typically stay with APC.

Its not as expensive as APC...

I see that this UPS I bought uses a modified sine wave.. which is supposedly not compatible with APFC power supplies.. I checked and mine is APFC... However there are reviews of people using APFC PSUs that encountered no problems.. Any thoughts?
