SS 6.4 not working

Whenever I try to launch Stainless Steel 6.4, I get an error message which reads :


The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.


Any idea how to fix this?

And yes, I am using Vista... is the game playable at all with vista?

A solution I have found is to install the Visual C++ Redistributable

For the hell of it you can also try

if that fails try

It is. This is in all likelyhood down to the individual os configuration.

Thanks a lot, I am on SS now, but whenever I try to start the campaign it says select an item from the list.

Run ss_setup.exe to select the campaign of your choosing before trying to start a campaign

When I change to Early Era Campaign it stays as Late Era Campaign

file could not be replaced -> you need to select "run as administrator" for the ss_setup and every other setup.exe you use.
