Default Kicked out RTW patch 1.5

    Hey all,

First things first: I've been a silent enthusiast of the game since shogun and of this forum since some years now. This place is great.

    But now my question: :sweatingb
I've got a problem. Since months I started to play rome again. The last few weeks were great and I really enjoyed the game. I patched the game with 1.3 and 1.5 a month ago.

But now I get thrown out of the game during the end year of the summer of 167 BC. It's juli campaign. I've tried several things to solve the problem, clean install for instance.

Does this problem ring a bell for you? Please help me because I fear I will lose intrest in the game if I can't get past de year 167 BC.

    You gotta be kidding me....

I sure hope you're not just the first to discover this...(doubt it), I have a Julii campaign too. 244 BC right now, but will definitely still be at it by 167bc.

Oh buggers, thanks for your advice but to no prevail I've spent my evening thinking about a solution and watching champions leaugue.

Well at least the latter was enjoyable.

    Nothing works

It has to do with events. You can find a thread about it in The Guild.(Too lazy to look it up.)

I've actually never heard of this bug. Try posting this in our RTW technical help forum.

Okay, I've tried something guy's on the total war forum said. Such as play from an older save. They said my save file is corrupt. So with one last try I've played with an older save, but it seems like i've wasted my evening because i get thrown from the game at the exact same place ( end year, summer 167 BC)

    Has anyone got an idea?

Yes. This is more commonly referred to as the 237 BC bug and there is a fix.
1/ Go to my site: http://personalpages.tds.net/~mzimmer/
and download the "historic_events.txt" file you find there. (Right click and 'save target as')
2/ Find "historic_events.txt" in your installation of RTW. (Should be in the text sub-directory).
3/ rename the file "historic_events.txt" in the "text" sub-dir to "historic_events_Backup.txt"
4/ Copy the downloaded "historic_events.txt" into the text sub-dir.
    5/ Start RTW
    6/ Load last saved game.
7/ Complete turn and wait til your next turn is ready. It should now be ok and return to the strategy map.

That should get you going again. The problem is that some of the historical events were renamed in 1.5 (the ones in 237 BC and 167 BC, plus another one), so if you're using a game that was originally started in an older version, it can't find the event it's looking for and crashes. The fix includes both the old and the new names for historical events so you should be able to run games started in old versions and games started in 1.5.

I should mention that this fix is incorporated in Player1's Bug Fixer program too.

Thanks! That did it for me!

I found another event that makes the game crash in 120 BC and added that to the replacement file last night, so you may want to re-download the text file and replace it again.
