Default Problems with my grapic card

I could really use some help here, my grapic card is really out of control I got a Asus Radeon Extreme AX800XT. When I have my old drivers to the card I can play "some" games. When I update the drivers I cant play anything because every game crashes and I got a vpu recover message. I have tried to dissable the vpu recover thingy but it doesn't help. The thing I can keep having the old drivers but then I can't play any new games, cause the they all crashes because of this vpu recover thingy.

    My computer
    Intel Pentium 4 550 3.4 GHz Boxed Socket LGA775, 1MB cache
    Asus P5AD2 Premium Motherboard S775 I925X,SATA,ATX,Dual-GbLAN,DDR2,PCI-Ex16
    Corsair Twin2X 5400PRO DDR2, 1024MB Kit w/two matched CM2X512-5400C4PRO

Have you tried using Driver cleaner (if not a quick google will find it).
    Then installing the newest drivers.

How long have you had the card? Have you contacted ASUS for support? Overclocking at all? Fan still working?

How is your power supply? That's a serious card you have and it needs a lot of power, so if you have an old PSU it won't do any good either. Check how many watts your Psupply makes. I would think your card needs at least a 400W PSU.

Try using omega drivers. I have used them before and they have worked much better than ati's.

yeah I have noticed that the card needs alot of power.. im on my third net agg. lol This one makes about 550w. Another strange is that the leds on the card has died.. prolly had this card for a year or so now.. and im not too happy if I need to send it to asus, then I would prolly have it back 2008. I've tried the omega drivers and ofc. I got the same crappy thing with them.. vpu bollox all over.

Prognosis negative! You can try a reinstall of Windows to see if that makes a difference. Try reseating the card as well...check to make sure the fan is still working. After that, than I would only assume you'll have to send'er back to ASUS and hope they fix it for you.

Here is my problem with my brand new 6800GS:

If i want to turn off the PC, it turns off fine.

IF i want to restart it without turning it off, the PC refuses to restart, instead all the leds are on (HD, PWR) the fans are spinning, but I am not getting the 'beep' and the screen stay dark. I have to manually turn off the PC, wait a minute and turn it back on.
I thought, it was my power supply, but no, I got an Antec 500W, which suppose to work with this card right? I tried all kinds of settings in the BIOS but nothing helps.

I got an nvidia nforce based motherboard (ASUS K8N), don't they suppose to be compatible?

Also I had no such a problems with any previous cards and with my old card, my PC starts just fine.

    What's going on here?

Also, I can't install the newest driver for my card. The driver readme file says that my card is supported, but when i start to install the driver, it does this:

If this doesn't support my 6800 GS, why does it say in the readme that it does?
    I am using this:
version 82.12, 12/19/2005 ), which is off from the installation CD (the only driver working with my card).

here is my old driver working fine:

this is what I get with the newest driver installation:

My G card Buzzes, constantly and it drives me mad!
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

Archer did you uninstall the old driver and then clean it with driver cleaner before you install your new graphics card?

yes. I have the driver cleaner and it removed all previous stuff, but I think I will give it a spin again and re-try installing it again.

Archer have you tried these http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=167 (Beta drivers, but seeing as they support the newer cards it may be worth a shot).

I'm pretty sure nVIDIA added support to the 6800GS graphics card in their drivers a long time ago.

Maby you should try updating the BIOS and the motherboard driver.

I did that too. Unfortunately, it looks like the card has a defect, i really believe. I tried every single idea I can, I updated the BIOS, motherboard drivers, i cleaned off the previous drivers , the whole nine yards. The card just refuses to start up the PC. I put my old card back and everything works just like before, so I know it's none of my other components. Sucks I tell you, i hate re-sending faulty stuff back, but this isn't the first time either. I had bad memory, bad hard drive, bad CD drive before that i had to send back to different suppliers.

On the upside at least all your drivers are now upto date....and it didn't crash and take other components with it.
On the downside you get to deal with a warranty/refund system, and that can be a real pain.

    Here comes the real shock.

I talked to the XFX technical support and they have confirmed that my motherboard (an nforce3) is not compatible with my graphics (nvidia) card.

Which of course ****** me off first, but after I cooled down, I also confirmed, that my card has absolutely no problems.

I tested in 2 different pc-s and it works wonderfully.

The problem is, that it doesn't work in my pc and I'm stuck.

Reminder: This is an AGP card and I only bought it as my last ever AGP card.

Since I planned, that my next motherboard will be PCI-E (I don't favor it) motherboard, WTF am i suppose to do with a 215 bucks/brand new AGP card???
Why on earth I would want to buy another AGP motherboard when looking into the future, all the new video cards are all PCI-E?

    This really pisses me off.

Feels like i'm throwing my money away, because of this damn motherboard is not compatible with my card?

I have to warn you guys: ASUS = avoid.
The K8N series (there are a many versions) motherboards are a pile of crap and INcompatible with the Geforce GS 6800 AGP cards (and who knows what else)
I had nothing but problems with it. First, it refuses to run in dual channel memory mode, even though it states that it suppose to run with two identical DIMMS. Second, it refuses to run on the stated memory speed, even if you set your BIOS manually to the rated speed of the memory sticks (dual channel 400). It overheats, even with default speed and 6 fans blowing air, since it's southbridge (or whatever it called) only features a heatsink instead of a small fan. The placements of for the different connectors (case leds, floppy wire, SATA connectors, main power connectors, fan connectors) are all poorly placed ,illogically all over the place, it's one reason I didn't like it the first time i installed it.
Right now I am downloading their drivers again, with a "blistering speed" of 40 kb/s on broadband (another 30 min to go) and all their download links are either 40 or less kb/s. WTF? Is this how they support their customers?

And now, my video card is not compatible with this damn thing. I will never buy an ASUS MB again, sorry, I don't care how much you like them. I was always a Gigabyte follower and all my motherboards were from them or Intel and never had a problem before like this.
