    Default Help with folders please!

Recently I had a problem with my PC and lots of folders got messed up. Now when I try to enter a battle the game crashes.

So I wonder if there are other folders/files, outside the main Medieval 2 TW folder which are necessary to run the game (and which I have to return to their proper place)?

If you are using Vista or Win 7, unhide all files and folders in Folder Options and look in Users\username\appdata\roaming.

Sorry, should've made it clear. I'm using good old XP. I did unhide all files and folders and many showed up. I just wonder if there are files (e.g. savegames or something) necessary to run the game outside the main folder?
If I know their names I can find them and put them back. I did it with some other games (e.g. New Vegas).

You can try a clean install of the game to see if it reinstalls them.

Post your dxdiag and see what's missing otherwise.

I want to see if there is a simpler solution before reinstalling the whole thing again. Like I had to cut and paste some folders into My Games for Fallout NV and My Documents for NHL09.

Don't really know what dxdiag is or where... I guess some error log somewhere...

This game is old enough there is no easy way. CA does not make backups of any of its files.

That's no problem, this files I've been talking about are meant ot be in my PC, hopefully. More likely it's wishful thinking.
I saw a log of a mod I'm playing. There is some stuff going on in the end. It's too large to attach but I'll quote a bit of it.

What you are seeing is a bunch of files listed not included by the mod but the game is reading from the pack files. The log for my mod looks as bad.

Has it crashed for any reason?

Looking at that log file it references Call of Warhammer. Is that a legitimate mod? Is that anything to do with Warhammer 40K? Is it hosted here and is it mod-foldered? You may have inadvertently screwed up your core installation when you installed that mod.

Also, that log is showing calls to the D:\ drive. Is that where you've installed M2? Some answers may shed some light. Good luck!

Call of Warhammer is a legitimate mod. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1377

I have even used D: drive at least once.

Thanks for that. I'm just wondering if he's done something like install M2 to C:\ and the mod to D:\. Long shot I know but better to clarify considering some of the questions....

The way the old DOS bat and cfg files are set up the Call of Warhammer mod folder has to b in the Medieval2\mods folder for it to work. CA's hardcode makes it almost impossible not to. I tried once just out of curiousity.

Yeah it's legitimate and very cool mod. I am using D cause it has more space there. Everything worked fine until few days ago I had a problem with my PC.

So the log looks normal? Then I'll reinstall one of the mods to see if this solves it. If not, then the whole game, which should fix it.

Thanks for the assisstance irishson, nice avatar PoleCat
