    Default First campaign

    Hey guys

I recently discovered this mod and its amazing. I have experimentated with all the factions in custom battle and now i want to begin with a campaign. But what faction is the best to play, for an unexperienced CoW player?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend some Empire faction, the easiest are Averland, Middenland and Reikland

they have less 'dangerous' scripts, powerful and varied armies and good economy

Thanks! What is the difference between those three factions?

I would suggest giving Kislev a try. They have a pretty varied army with both Dwarves, Elves and Norse as recruitable units (only one cannon choice, though). They also have what most other "good" factions lack - several possible avenues of expansion. You will have to deal with a scripted Chaos attack or two, but you have to learn to deal with those anyway.

Don't necessarily continue with your Kislev campaign, though, as you are on the forefront of the upcoming invasion...

And what is the best tactic early game? Quickly conquering settlements or building up base?

The first I played was Khorne: it was awesome, epic and challenging. If yout want an easy ride go for Averland, it's pretty awesome, but less epic and way less challenging.

I'd disagree with Beregond about Middenland, they're pretty challenging, although it is possible that I'm awfull.

You asked what the difference between empire factions are? There are very few, the biggest differences are geographical and economical, if you give them a go you will see why the differences are difficult to describe.

Building up base is your best bet (except chaos), rebel settlements are usually very very tough at the start.

Ow ok, so the empire factions are unit wise almost the same, with some unique units for some emperor factions. I started a few minutes ago a Middenland campaign and in the very beginning there came lots of Beast armies.. I havent seen them in the custom battle, can you unlock them? Or is there a faction limit on the menuscreen, so i have to remove a other faction from the menuscreen?

Beastmen are easily defeated using gunpowder units. They have awful morale. Have some Pistolliers, handgunners and knights to chase down the running hordes

Limit on the menuscreen? you mean in custom?yes, I think there is limited space on the screen unfortunately. Beastmen troops are in Chaos rosters in custom battle

Yes i mean custom Ok i try gunners for those beastmen Thanks for the tip . But you are right they are not that strong, only those beast with heavy axes are a little more though, but also die quick with a charge from Heavy cavalry. The only problem is that they come with some many armies Will they keep sending those armies? Because then i can better capture their setllements as quick as possible.

They live in the forest, you can't all the forest, every now and again they'll invade your lands.

The beastmen arent' your biggest threat, sooner or later there will be an invasion by khorne against Nordland, Nordland won't be able to stop them, they are your biggest threat until Archaon invades, if I remember correctly.

    Some tips from me:

cavalery! mounted units are very powerfull in this mod, coz of their charge, you can own pretty everything with them.

halberd units, they got low stats, but doing great in battle, you can kill with them even the strongest units.

I advice you to merge this units, line of halabards, and flanking cavalery will deal for begin, than you will see what is strong, and how to kill your enemys.

Build up your economy, this is your main focus, you will need lots of cash, and lots of armys as game go on. There is a summer festival... in summer it gives you x2 income, so it is smart to stay on 0 balance with your building, and recruting, and got some free cash from time to time.

what can i say more... you play as middenland, expand on west, i know that this is obvius, but try do it as soon as posible, Marienburg will give you lots of cash. Use your merchants, build as many as you can, than send them to dwarven lands, those on east, main ladns. East of Karaz-a-karak you got mines with blue gems, they will give you tremendus cash flow! If this is your first game use cheat to off the fog of war (you can look on whole map at this point, and figure out what to do, where are your week points, and so on, but do not do it to often, it kills pleasure of playing) than you will find them, or just reach karaz-a-karak, and use road to east, and when it end up north, to goblin stronghold called Mount Gundbad.

Well it will be all for now, o, and from time to time you will get special units, bright wizards are best option here, the can pretty own whole enemy army, use them wise, coz you got only one special unit per game!

Thanks for the tips azgard! I noticed that cavalry are very powerfull, they rape everything I didnt know that merchants were handy, in most mods they are useless. I destroyed the beastmen who were close, and suddenly they were destroyed as faction. And some turns later they are back in the diplomacy screen. Do i have to worry about them, because all my armies are in the north fighting chaos, and dont have much garrison in south.

Omg, i started a other campaign with Averland and they are much eassier. Those first 2 armies of the orcs are easily destroyed and then you can build up lots of armies to conquer a lot of settlements. Your money keeps rolling. I want to also start with a bad guy faction. Wich is the easiest of those?

I think Khorne is the easiest.
