NTW Update 19/04/2011

Steam just downloaded a 20.7mb heavy update for NTW.

But no news or any kind of info in the update/news section.

Does anyone have an idea of what that update could be ?

If it's the unit editor my head is going to explode.

Only Napoleon.exe and installscript.vdf were updated.

Mod Tools Update

The recent announcement that the uniform editor was being dropped jumped the gun a bit.
It’s true that we’re not planning to release the tool we originally designed. Some feature designs don’t pan out as imagined, and this one was frankly not great. All it would allow was the setting of colours for a particular unit type. It was clunky and didn’t do what most people actually wanted.
What we are planning to do is to release the full unit editor along with the data builder tool. This is the tool chain we used to create and edit the units in the game. It’s far more powerful than the uniform editor would have been.
There aren’t any areas of the game which in principle we don’t want players to be able to mod, but there are difficulties in practice in making it possible, and we do have some work to do to package up the tools.
We are intending to come up with a more comprehensive long term strategy on encouraging and facilitating mods, and will talk more about this soon, but for now I can say for sure that the Napoleon unit editor tools remain a priority. The tools are currently scheduled for release in the first half of 2011, this is of course dependent on how Shogun 2 progresses, and we will keep you updated.
We haven’t and won’t forget this, hence putting a date to it. For now Shogun 2 remains our top priority.

aye 20 mb something downloaded from steam...

cant find it whatever it was...hoping for mod tools means too much faith in CA's promise

Nothing so far about it in the official forum either ... odd!

Half an hour ago, the same 20.7 mb download here. Nothing on the Steam news tab.

Dont get your hopes up high, obviously nothing important what would affect our most desired mod tools

Steam has no info on it either ...

Heck I'd be happy if they fixed the boarding freeze bug ... I love naval battles!

not thats not it that bug is still there for me atleast =(

Okay, this is strange... check your /data folder... nothing new (sort by date modified)...


This download was a new Napoleon.exe file in your /napoleon total war directory.

My napoleon.exe is 02/12/2010
and its 20.6 mb

Really? Hmm, thats the only file I can see that's got today's date and the time stamped when the update occurred from Steam on my machine.. I'll keep looking.

My napoleon.exe was also modified with this download and it seems that it was the only file downloaded.

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps
here the ncf files are dated today 0:19 am for me one is 6.34 mb
there are 4 files but 3 of them are 100-200 kb

Yes, I see the same as well. Odd. My Napoleon.exe was modified at the same time as these .ncf files though, 6:49 pm, just a few minutes ago.

I got a installscript.vfd ... vfd file as well with today's date. In addition to the napoleon.exe.
