    Default Question on "Defeat Imminent.."

I've gotten this message several times, and can't quite nail down what it means: " 'Defeat Imminent!' Your honor may be called into question!" and " 'Victory Imminent!' Your honor may be called into question!" Or something like that.

I finally figured that the "Victory" message might be because an army of mine was nearing a town that another Roman faction was trying to capture, and they were afraid I would "steal their kill." I don't know if this is correct, just a guess. And the "defeat" message? I am clueless. I am nowhere near any roman faction that I can see needs my help or is afraid I will pounce on their kill.

What do these messages mean? Is there any penalty for ignoring them? Can I steal another factions kill? If so, what are the consequences of doing that?

    Thank you.

The defeat imminent means that another faction is close to fulfilling the victory conditions, and the victory imminent one means you are close to completing the victory conditions.

It's basically a warning that you had better complete your victory conditions because another faction has accomplished all but one of theirs. If that's something tough like 'eliminate the Scipii,' you have plenty of time. If it's something easy like 'eliminate the Dacians' then you have to hurry. Toggle off fog of war and see who's close to winning.

Many times it means the nation is close to 50 states under it's control, however most times I find they're no where near taking Rome.
